Brand to miss at least one game
Elton Brand didn’t travel with the 8-11 Sixers to Michigan on Thursday afternoon and won’t play in Friday night’s game against Allen Iverson and the Pistons. Brand strained his right hamstring during Wednesday’s 114-102 home loss to the Lakers, in which he finished with a season-low three points on 1-for-7 shooting. An MRI Thursday morning confirmed the injury.

Brand, who is listed as day-to-day, leads the Sixers in scoring with a 16.7-point average and rebounding (10.0). He signed a five-year, $82 million free-agent deal with the team on July 9.

Since the Pistons typically start two big guys (Rasheed Wallace and Kwame Brown), the Sixers would likely use veteran Theo Ratliff or rookie Marreese Speights in Brand’s starting spot at power forward.

Detroit (11-6) is 7-6 since acquiring Iverson from the Nuggets. He is averaging career-lows in scoring (17.7 points) and minutes (36.5) with the Pistons. Iverson is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season.

No word on the likelihood that he'll play on saturday

No, I meant that the Nets will miss having to face him.

Oh, OK. Didn't want to edit it without clarifying. Or maybe I should have...

Anyway, good news for the Nets. Even though Brand hasn't lived up to expectations, his talent is undeniable. One less good player to deal with.

I think he is still leading the team in scoring, though.
