Nets vs Sixers

This is going to be a tough game for the Nets. Philly has a lot of momentum, and Webber is back in the line up. I wonder who is going to chase Iverson around because the key to this game for the Nets is to contain Iverson's scoring and playmaking. I have confidence that Kristic or Collins will cancel Webber out, so the X-Factor is the Nets ability to defend AI.

im not going to game but will watch every second of the game! this will be a playoff atmosphere game in the meadowlands and will be a good one

Oh yes, a playoff atmosphere game in the meadowland....the seat will be what half full? Excitement in the air......nothing like playing for an empty arena..... when vince said he wanted to play in a new jersey this wasnt what he was thinking.....(i stole the last one)........if you think this is exciting try going NEAR a game in NY..... it is more exciting OUTSIDE THE STADIUM than inside the meadowlands......i've played before bigger crowds on my JEWISH JV HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM than they have at the meadowlands ......

And that excitement still surrounds the Garden..ahhh, no, please most of the people that attend Knick games now days is old business men from 34th to 42 nd street/ celebs. And they can care less about the product on the court, they are only at the game for PR reasons. There aint no playoff atmosphere in the Garden anymore, stop fooling yourself...

Anyway, as far as tonight goes Jacque Vaughn wil be missed in this type of game because he is excellent at putting pressure on quicker, small guards. And he has had the assignment of staying in front of Allen Iverson for most of the time during the first meetings.

Vince vs. Iguodala will be interesting, Vince is going to have to have a big game against him. And take advantage of his expereince. Krstic and Collins got to stay out of foul trouble. And a strong defensive performance from Cliff off the bench will be needed. Defense and his familiarity with guarding some of the leagues best 4's is the reason we made the move to bring him here. Tonight is where he makes it pay off, everybody Knows Webber hates going to the basket now. So, Robinson and others have to get out on him and take away his midrange perimeter game. And force Webber into a now somewhat uncomfortable postion of putting the ball on the floor.

I would like to see Rodney Buford get into the game earlier tonight. I not for sure why or how Zoran Planinic over took him in the perimeter rotation. But in my opinion Zoran isnt ready to play in this type of atmosphere. And he has shown that during this stretch with some bad decision making and turnovers that is why Coach frank had to yank him out in the 2nd half of the Raptor game, after he threw a silly un-needed alley oop attempt to Scalabrine. Coach Frank should just go with Rodney from the start this time.

If the Nets can actually win this game...they more or less controll their own destiny. Huge game!

I dont understand why this game isnt nationaly televised. its the most important game today. I dont know who will win but I wanted to watch it. i guess ill have to view it on courtside live. both teams are hungry and between vince and AI it may become a shoot out. BUt good luck to both teams i like philly and NJ. if i had to choose a favorite it would be NJ cause i want them to make the playoffs along with philly.

it's 1:30 AM here in israel...and i'm still watching this game....we got off to a great start, currently lead 32-17 with 2:30 remaining in the 1st. so far, scaly is playing really well and VC is scoring, kidd already has 5 assists, 5 points. very important good start. we need to keep this up for the rest of the game, though, knowing philly they can make a comeback run at any time in the game.

38-25 Nets leading...Great start. VC with 15 already. Sixers have committed 8 TO's..5 by Allen Iverson.

EDIT: OT...But kobimel, do you still post at the EA Boards?

Is it just me, or has the level of ignorant bitterness in the board gone way up?

The Nets are back to where they were 5 games ago...with thier own fate in thier own hands. If they win thier next two, they will be in the playoffs.

Both games will be tougher than the one vs. Philly.

The first is against the Wizards, who have a tremendous combination of young players who many teams have trouble defending.

The second is against Boston in Boston. Its going to be tought to stop the duo of Pierce and Walker.

These wins are not impossible, but the Nets cannot afford to let down and feel too good about themselves.

Great game by the Nets. Vince with back to back 40 Point games, and J-Kidd with a TD. Now, with one more win, the Nets will clinch a playoff spot. If the Cavs lose their remaining games the Nets will also make the playoffs regardless if they lose their next 2 games. However, the Nets need to take care of that final spot themselves, and not rely on others. Nets in the playoffs...It's suicide facing the Heat in the first round, but hey it's the playoffs. Let's hope the Nets get the 7th seed, and the Sixers get the 8th. Making the playoffs though is the main priority.

Not quite

, they will need to win thier next two to clinch -- assuming that the Cavs also win thier two games.

my friend was there he said it was 3/4 full he said it was great and it felt like there was more ppl there than actually there

My bad...I forgot the Cavs had 2 GR. A combination of a Nets win and Cavs lost will clinch a spot for the Nets

ya cavs playin against the celtics and nets facing wiz... i think wiz is a harder team to beat than celts but of how hot carter and the nets have been nets can def win the game.

Yeah even watching it on TV you could tell the crowd was actually into this one from the very start. It definately wasnt one of those nights fillled with fake crowd noises from the loud speakers, to act like the crowd was into it...

Anyway, I defenately think Scalabrine deserves alot of credit for the victory. He came out early and took advantage of the mismatch of Kover trying to guard him. Scali scored the first 7 points for Jersey of the game. And that got the crowd going. Then for the rest of the game it became more about his hustle and will against that Philly frontline, Scali was quicker to the ball all night then anyone on Philly's frontline.

Coach frank made a wise decision getting Planinic out of there as soon as possible. Planiinc clealry isnt ready for playoff level basketball minutes, but Buford came in that 2nd quarter and played really well. He made some hustle played and knocked down a couple open jumpers. Cliff Robinson played well in that 1st half as well. Overall I think our bench played pretty well tonight, nothing spectacular or any thing. But the guys coach frank brought in were scrappy as heck in the hustle department.

Other then that Vince was Vince. And Jason was Jason, they are our leaders so in a big game I expect nothing less then those two to step up and set the table.

Anyway, a back to back to end the season is going to be difficult. I would like to win both to have a legitimate chance at a 7th seed in the playoffs. But I think if we get one of the two with Cleveland really struggling that should be enuff to insure a playoff spot.

now we really have a chance or the 7th seed also.. if philly loses against celts and nets beat wiz then it would be tied for 7th and nets hold the tiebreaker so nets would be 7th seed then it comes down to the final game of the season.

Philly doesnt have Boston on the Schedule again this year, they finish the season against the Bucks and then the Hawks. So in my opinion best case scenerio for Nets to jump into 7th of course is Nets win both games vs Washington and then Boston. But the best chance for Philly to lose would be tommorrow vs the Bucks. Then the tiebreaker comes into effect of course which give the Nets the 7th seed. But it Philly doesnt lose against Milwaekee
I doubt the Nets get the 7th seed cause I dont think Philly is losing to the Hawks.

Scalabrine has flourished in his starting role, and Nets owe a lot of credit to his hustle and focus. He has accepted his role on the bench and adjusted when needed after being called into the starting line up. Even more amazing is this is coming off two injuries in one season that had him sit out for extended periods of time.

Na, of course not Banks. Too little intelligence there. lol. But anyway, a huge, important win for the Nets. They're back to .500 for only the 1st time since NOVEMBER. That's a huge accomplishment for a team that everybody was already debating about regarding who they'd draft with their lottery pick. This was a great all-around team effort: VC chipped in 43 and 11 rebounds, Kidd had yet another 15+ assist game and another triple-double, and Scaly and Krstic both really helped, both getting double doubles and combining for 31 points and 21 rebounds, and they were able to somewhat shut down Chris Webber. The bench was good too, especially Cliff and Rodney. Now we need to win the next two games, to get the 8th spot, and if Philly loses to Milwaukee, we'll get the 7th spot. We have room for one loss if we're really aiming for only 8th, and that's only if Cleveland loses to Boston or Toronto.
