According to Chris Mannix in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated (as blurbed by Nets Daily), if the Nets fail to land the No.1 pick in this year's draft -- which means they'd be missing out on Kentucky's John Wall -- "league sources expect New Jersey to explore trading its choice -- which, barring a miraculous turnaround, can be no worse than fourth."
Mannix says the Nets are high on Ricky Rubio's list, so it's not out of the realm of possibility the team will try and trade the pick the the Wolves for Rubio's rights, hoping he'll be bought out from his Spanish team sooner rather than later.
In such a scenario, the Timberwolves could have been awarded the No. 1 pick and drafted John Wall, thus making Rubio more expendable. They'd also have another pick in the lottery via the Nets, and could draft a wing, such as Ohio State's Evan Turner.
And as ESPN's Chris Sheridan pointed out in his chat yesterday, whether the Nets land the No.1 pick or not could also determine Devin Harris' fate with the team as well.
