Head Coach Terry Stotts has added assistants Jay Triano, David Vanterpool and Kim Hughes to the coaching staff. #ripcity

From wikipedia:

David Vanterpool (born March 31, 1973 in Daytona Beach, Florida) is a retired American professional basketball player who played for various teams around the globe. An all-around 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) shooting guard-small forward, he earned an All-Euroleague Second Team selection during the Euroleague 2003-04 season, while playing for Euroleague power Montepaschi Siena. He is currently the assistant coach of CSKA Moscow.

Kim Hughes (born June 14, 1952, Freeport, Illinois) is a former professional basketball player. The 6-foot-11 Hughes played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin from 1970–74, averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds as a senior. His identical twin Kerry, also 6-11, was also a starter on the Badgers. Hughes was selected by the Buffalo Braves in the third round (9th pick) of the 1974 NBA draft. He played professionally in Italy during the 1974-75 season. He spent the 1975-76 season with the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association (ABA), where he averaged eight points and nine rebounds and was named to the First Team ABA All-Rookie Team. The 1976 Nets team, which featured Julius Erving, Swen Nater, and Brian Taylor, won the ABA Championship.
Hughes spent two more seasons with the Nets after the franchise moved to the NBA. In July 1978, Hughes signed with the Denver Nuggets, where he played for two full seasons. Eight games into the 1980-81 NBA season, Hughes was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He retired from the NBA at the end of the 1981 season, but continued to play professionally in Italy until 1989. During his ABA and NBA career, Hughes averaged 3.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, and had field goal and free throw percentages of 49.7% and 39.7%, respectively. He has worked as a scout and assistant coach with the NBA's Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Big man coach!....?

Hughes is an Olshey guy. He was interim coach for the Clips when Dunleavy got canned.

When Hughes coached Outlaw and Blake, then was fired, didn't show up for a few days, then was told that cheapskate Kroc han't fired him, just relieved him of acting Head Coach duties, so he returned embarrassed and finished out the remaining weeks of his contract

I forgot the question. Oh yeah.

Was it Olshey who miscommunicated to Hughes, to the annoyance of Kroc?

Woj says Vanterpool is easily the biggest loss to staff to Presti fwiw

Sam Presti has lost staff in offseason, but David Vanterpool going back into coaching ranks w/ Portland is easily the toughest blow to OKC.

The best assistants may find our assistant job attractive because they perceive Stotts as a vulnerable short-termer.

Kim Hughes?

I wonder if she is she hot?

If you're referring to Ray Kroc, he never owned the Clippers. He owned the San Diego Padres from 1974 until his death in 1984 - 28 years ago.

Try to keep up old man.

Just testing. You were more awake than anyone. Good job. That was just a warmup.

Next, who was the second player ever drafted by the NBA after 1955, who also played in the regular NBA season, but who skipped college?

Hughes, 60, will be the assistant in charge of the development of Meyers Leonard and Joel Freeland. That's his expertise having been praised for the improved post play of Chris Kaman and Elton Brand while he was an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers for seven seasons.

In 1998, the 6-11 assistant coach began a five year stint as the Director of Scouting, Director of Player Personnel and assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks and he played six seasons in the NBA and ABA.

“He does a great job developing big men,” Stotts said. “Hughes has been around. The development of Joel and Meyers will be vital to our program and I feel we have the right coach for the job.”

.......

Vanterpool will be working primarily with the guards.

“With his playing experience and being young enough to get out there and bang with them in practice, will really benefit our program,” Stotts said. “He will work mainly with the development of our perimeter players and I'm happy to have him on board.”

And as for Canales, Stotts already has an idea on how he will use him.

“He (Canales) will be our defensive coordinator,” Stotts said. “I want to use all of our coaches strengths and give them the freedom to do their jobs.”

Stotts wouldn't comment on who he will select to be the lead assistant and he even went as far to say that he doesn't really like naming a coach the lead guy.

All signs still point to Canales filling that role.

I could never pin down what "nerd" means but that helps. It's anyone who doesn't know what meme means.

I also figured out what meme means. It's anyone who doesn't know what PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS means.
