New Jersey Nets sign Kaniel Dickens

He can shoot the basketball. And that is definately a major hole for this team right now. So his addition is a plus, if the Nets are willing to give him a legit chance to play. Kind of sad Awvee Storey had to go, I know he was just sitting at the end of the bench. But he never really got a shot. And he played pretty well during the preseason. But he was a wing player with point guard size. Coach Franks was really high on him tho..he was one of the harder workers in practice. Anyway lets see what Dickens brings to the table

Good, Nets really need a shooter. I hope he can be a firefighter in fourth-quater, and make a three-pointer shot, like steve kerr, robert horry.

I have never heard of him but, I Kareem Rush would have been a better choice for the team. I think a legit shooter that will actually get burn is what the Nets need in order for them to be a better team. The other teams are collapsing on RJ because no one is making them pay. That is what the Nets need. The Nets should have gotten Rush sooner but, too bad Charlotte got him first.

^I agree a guy like Rush could have really stretched the floor for us. And he probably could have easily beat Rodney Buford out for minutes as our backup two guard. But I dont think the Nets were willing to give up draft picks even if they only had to be 2nd rounds to get him. The Nets are really trying to shock & preserve as many picks as possible. But I could have lived with something like Aaron Williams(since he isnt really apart of the rotation anymore) & maybe one 2nd round pick for Kareem Rush & Jurmaine Jones. We woulld have got some shooting in the backcourt and athletism in the frontcourt at the forward spot, two things we really need now. But its to late for that..anyway Iam looking forward to seeing what Dickens can bring, if anything.

Dickens I have never heard of this cat is he really that good. And if he is that good how come no teams tried to pick him up?

Also if the Nets were looking at a shooter Matt Carol was very impressive. 2 years ago he was very impressive at training camp but, he didn'tmake the team because (*sigh*) Scott Layden. He is a very good shooter especially from 3.

A lot of players can be good in the CBA, preseason and what have you. But usually, they don't have what it takes to be good in the L. I sure hope this guy can prove me at least half wrong.

I do agree about Rush. But we can't afford to give up our picks like Hen said. What's the point of giving up our two starters for those draft picks? I do agree with Train as well. I thought he's going to have a breakout year coz he was doing a great job last year with the absence of KMart.

Yeah, But in my opinion Coah Frank never really gave him an opportunity. I think his plan was to work Nenad Krstic into the back up role from the very start. And in someways, Iam not really that mad at Coach franks decision because we arent championship contenders in the East. So Aaron Williams might be more benificial prdouction wise for us ,right now. But getting these minutes for Nenad Krstic will benefit the future.

I just think we should trade A-Train now, while he still may have some value as a backup on a team looking to contend. And maybe they are willing to part ways with a young player who they have found doesnt really fit with their plans. Or at least a solid Draft Pick.
