I have a problem with using Kobe.

There are so many players that they could choose from that weren't controversial. The guy did some highly questionable shit. By all appearances he was a great father and he really turned it around, but why choose someone that has a dark past? I would rather have LeBron over Kobe and I'm not even a LeBron fan. But he hasn't had even the smallest bit of controversy in his career. He's a great father. Etc etc etc.

But like I said in my earlier post, I highly doubt that this would even be a conversation if Jerry West was black.

Because Kobe is dead. Its much easier to honor someone after they are gone.

What WOULD be the Lakers' starting 5?
Centers: Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Mikan (that really should be 4 of the starting 5)
Forwards: Elgin Baylor, LeBron, maaaybe Pau, Worthy
Guards: Magic, West, Kobe

Shaq
LeBron
West
Magic
Kobe

Very close to picking him a a starter but he will best suit the team as their 6th Man-

considering the NBA is just a 3 point contest now something like this seems logical

So the NBA LOGO needs a guy made for it! It needs a guy that is named after it!
LOGO LILLARD!

There seems to be consensus here that the logo should be nonwhite, a silhouette, and a modern participant. So I nominate Bob Whitsitt, in a darker red than my new avatar. I decided to stop looking bald.

Shaq over Kareem? Shaq over Wilt? And people forget what Elgin Baylor did for the Lakers. Granted, it was mainly keeping the Clippers shit for years as their GM, but still.

For a full career, I'd probably pick Kareem, but I think his peak passed with the Bucks. He was still great for a number of years for the Lakers, but not at his Milwaukee best (pun not intended). The same could be said for Wilt Chamberlain, that his peak had passed before he reached LA (though he played smarter in LA). Of the three, I think Shaq probably had the best part of his career in LA. Not the most graceful part of his career, as he went from an incredible run-and-jump big athlete in Orlando to a ground-bound tank in LA--but for all that his game was ugly and brutal in LA, it was inescapably effective and dominant.

I m definitely a West over Baylor, but the center position was tough. I have never been a Wilt guy.
