With so many teams clinging to the notion that they are still in the hunt, are there major moves to be made?

Obviously some teams may be self-delusional, and others may just be posturing. But I don't think we see Cashman with any moves until next weekend. My guess is a certain LH starter...

Brian is pre-occupied right now in his Hotel Room. Room Service was called for two strong guys to go to Brian's room stat....to help him try and pull his head out of his ass....!

Ha. Yeah well I think we see Cliff Lee by next weekend for cash and player to be named later. Beltre I give 50-50 odds.

I was hoping they went up there to beat the living shit out of him so he would mercilessly retire for the good of all yankee fans

If Cashman can't make any significant deals by the July deadline, then his time in NY is over. At some point you have to say that there is an art to deal making, and the Yanks need someone that can get things done regardless. Buying FA in the off season is one type of "sales deal". Making in season moves is another, and thus far has proven to be a skill set Cashman struggles with.

Tote- do you think Lee has anything left in his arm? I fear he may be done for....I worry about his elbow.

What about Cole Hammels??? I thought he was up for trade bait, but again we have no one to trade for.....So cash it is, I'd still rather have Hammel to some degree, for a longer future. But then Cole may be done for too.

sure it would be nice to have Lee as his craft veteran big game pitcher mentality he has....but.... I worry.....!

You know guys I'm probably in the minority here but instead of bringing in all these high priced veteran pitchers that cost us the few prospects we have how about promoting from within guys like refsnyder and giving our double and triple A pitchers a shot up here before we trade them away. I still have a pet peeve that we continue to draft college players 21 and 22 years old like judge and jagielo(hope I spelled his name right) and then stick them for years in A ball. I always say college draftees at that age should be good enough to start at double A and be able to progress rapidly up the system(like other real baseball teams). Leave A ball for the high school draftees at 17 and 18 and the 16yr olds signed from overseas. We may actually have some kids that can play(did I say that?) but it takes forever for braindead-man to give them a chance. His MO has always been to write a large check on some vet who immediately comes in and gets hurt.
Thank you all. I feel better now.

Honestly, I agree with you Whole Heartedly...!!!

RF has to be addressed. Ichiro is not an everyday player anymore. SP is a must. I could see Lee but would rather see if something younger less expensive out there but doubt it. Also would hope for a full time 3rd baseman. Would love Belpre but that is a pipe dream. Maybe buy low on Headley?

I'd love someone like Beltre but what happens next season when A-Rod comes back & you know he will. No way the Yankees are just going to buy this guy off.

Hamels and Beltre wins the division for the Yanks.......

And keep Cliffy the hell out of here with his 55mil price tag.

...they may have to pay him, they don't have to play him.

Not a fan of trading for Cliff Lee. He's coming off elbow problems and he's due a lot of money. Haven't we learned our lesson?

...^it's Cole Hamels and Jason Hammel...we're talking about Hamels from the Phils.

...and just guessing but I'd imagine the Phils would rather keep Hamels than Lee...I think Lee would be more of a salary dump and would require less in return.

...citing money doesn't make much sense when Hamels is still due nearly $100 Mil.

I personally still hold to the view that they shouldn't get anyone as there isn't anyone good enough...

...I dunno hammer, Hamels and Beltre would both be huge upgrades...Lee too, if he's healthy.

I have no doubt A-Roid will return next year.....the only question is how long will he play, before De Boyz break his legs.....permanently....!!!

NY doesn't need another Shrek....time to purge the system....of dead-beats, cheats, and losers....!!

...matts, I'm not sure he'll still be able to play well enough to warrant being on the roster.

...I'm also not sure they can afford to even have him in the clubhouse.

He'll be back, if only to cost you your bag of cheetos.

Good point 59.....

I've been reading Torre's "The Yankee Years", I did not know the players in the clubhouse were calling Alex A-Fraud long before the Fans began yelling the same, during games, years ago, when it made CNN news.

I Had no clue it was the clubhouse sentiments prior to the fans. I could only imagine the chaos in the clubhouse when Alex returns....I'd not put it past the team to clear out, or put his locker in the janitors closet, to keep harmony amongst the team.

so, yeah, I can't see Alex being accepted in the clubhouse either....only MO' could forgive him, (or so he said as much in his last book, with stipulations of course)...

That bastage will NOT get the crumbs of my Cheetos.....I'd gladly give him the empty bag to put over his head tho'...!

When you're done Rob let me know how the book is. i'm looking for something to read on the plane when I go visit my daughter.

...maybe not, but standing pat is certainly not enough.

I never said they should stand pat, but I believe they should go in the other direction... restock the farm, don't wast time on other peoples rejects.... that formula clearly hasn't worked & no logical reason to think it will now...

...like I said before, this ain't the Marlins...the Yanx don't rebuild, they reload.

...and at this point, being 4 games back with over 60 games to go is not the time to go with a youth movement.

...and the players being discussed are by no means "rejects"...and if you think about it, the successful Yanx teams have ALWAYS been built around a combination of their own players as well as FAs/trades.
