We found a slight issue with the contest and are making a rules change for next week. Basically going back to the 1st week's rules.

As soon as we have spreads for any games, you will be able to pick against those spreads. For games without odds, you can make blind picks - pick a side without knowing the spread. The spreads move throughout the week, so you will have to check your picks periodically to assure your picks are truly what you want, considering the latest spread.

Those who make their picks on Sunday morning will (and always did) have the best information and thus, theoretically, the best chance to win. You can make picks on Monday or Tuesday just to at least have a chance to win the prize.

Turns out that for some games, there's no lines until late in the week or even Sunday morning. We want people to be able to pick for all the games - the more games to pick, the less chance of ties. People who picked early in the week may only have had the chance to pick 15 games instead of 16.

My strategy to play the contest would be to pick early and monitory my picks as the week progresses. As injury reports come out, I hear things on TV, etc., I might want to change my picks. I would absolutely want to check on my picks on Sunday as close to kickoff of the first game, in any case.
