its getting scary now like kingspeed said. no roy for 10 days puts us around 20-17 with at least a 2-3 game gap for somebody. i mean how much longer can we trot batum out there to score zero points? a trade now has become a must.

you cant ride a fragile player like roy every night and not expect him to get hurt. well kp has to fix this now. we need a damn trade for a scorer.

If Roy is going to be out ten days - that means three games missed. The Laker game on the road - which frankly, the Blazers would probably lose without Roy; then home games against the Pistons and Warriors. Both of those are winnable games with or without Roy. Aldridge has had success against the Pistons, and Nelson's Warriors are an odd team, anyway, so it's anyone's guess what happens.

I bet the Blazers go 1-2 without Roy, and then beat the Bulls on Roy's first night back. Go Blazers!

Smart trades improve the team. I seriously doubt this team is so mentally fragile that a deal would send them into a tailspin. I also wouldn't say our team chemistry is amazing right now either.

I'm not even convinced that a trade would be helpful for this season. If we added Caron Butler it would help next season for sure, but any kind of blockbuster would mean a significant change to our rotation and it could destroy any chemistry we've developed over the last few months. While I'm not opposed to a trade, I also would disagree that a trade would definitely help our current situation.

Good Lord!!! We are the second youngest team in the NBA and without our allstar. In that time period we lost to a Hornets team that should be sending us thank you cards for allowing us to make them look that good and oh yeah WE BEAT THE WORLD CHAMPS with their BIG THREE PLAYING!!!!!!!

Please understand this Mixum!!!!!! Our team is not going to win the NBA this year!!! We need to learn how to play together, far more important!! There is nothing on the market that I see that learning to play some better D couldn't be better then. Trading Batum, Bayless or Joel is just dumb!!!! We can wait to trade Raef, Frye , Ike, Outlaw and maybe even Sergio till a great player becomes available.

Our team although struggling as "THEY SHOULD!!!", like each other, and have good chemistry. Messing with that right now sends a poor message to the players and the overall message that we are building a championship team three years from now.

BTW- The Lakers will probably kill us tonight and that's okay.... we are learning every game. The Lakers are going to be in the finals and I predict will win the NBA. So before the trade the whole team threads start around 10 PM tonight, maybe just watch the game cause you love hoops.

That's debatable. I think we are learning to lose in some respects. We don't seem to grasp that living by the jumpshot is a recipe for disaster against quality NBA teams. Similarly, we don't seem to close out on perimeter shooters, something that's been plaguing this team for years.

I'm thinking "just like what happened" with the Blazers a few years ago, when Trader Bob added Rod Strickland and Detlef Schrempf in an effort to get that "last piece" to push them into the upper echelon. Backfired big-time. Likewise, there's the Shaq trade in Phoenix that made them no better and upset the team's system, and inspired griping from Amare (chemistry issue).

There are examples of teams that are immediately improved without chemistry issues. But with a team as young as the Blazers, I'm not sure they're as mentally indestructible as you'd suggest. Yes, there are probably trades that Pritchard could do that would improve the team without chemistry issues. But I'm sure part of his reluctance to trade right now is that chemistry could be upset by making some of possible moves out there.

The only guy that worries me in terms of chemistry is Sergio. If trading him would make Rudy miserable, it's a legit concern.

Other than that dynamic, I doubt there's any serious chemistry concerns since we've already tested it with dealing Jack last summer. He was a great locker room guy that was beloved by his teammates.

I have a guy like that in my fantasy baseball league...except its for Cubs players. So annoying! The team that ends up with the good Cubs players will end up in at least the playoffs because he will trade him to that guy for obviously better players. It just screws with the integrity of the league.
