The national pizza chain's YouGov BrandIndex Buzz score -- which the site uses as an indication of brand favorability -- dropped to four at the end of November, down from 32 on election day.

Applebee's score dropped more than 25 points after Zane Tankel -- who owns 40 Applebee's in the New York area -- appeared on the Fox Business Network and expressed reluctance to expand because of the health care overhaul.

Not just pizza. It's often not a good idea to aggressively mix politics and business. Because your customers are all stripes, unless you just want to say "no X allowed". And most businesses want as many customers as possible. Sure, chik fil a can sell a lot of shitty sandwiches on anti-gay day but in the long run it's going to hurt them. Bigots will buy 3 sandwiches a day for one day but supporters of equality will boycott forever. And saying you will cut your employees' hours to avoid them getting health care is not popular with people who aren't even really political. It's called screwing the workers.

Where I live there's an auto repair place that used to have a lot of "God bless George Bush" signs & stuff. Maybe someone told them that in the Bay Area that could lose them business. Well, now they just have SPCA. Incidentally they are good mechanics. Unlike Papa John which makes crappy pizza.

Good point. I guess when you're desperate and willing to eat Domino's pizza, you don't care about politics.

I don't think of Chinese food as political, it's prepared in the US by US workers/small business.

Or maybe it's just that, like all Jews, I spend Christmas eating Chinese take-out. And watching NBA of course.

Not sure how it became a "thing". Not a serious one, of course observant Jews wouldn't because the food isn't kosher. But everything is closed, nothing really to do, we don't generally do anything for the holiday, but Chinese take out is always open. Another "thing" is comedy clubs with Jewish comedians. I'm not into comedy clubs but have some friends who go. When I worked at Emanuel Hospital I always volunteered to work Christmas. It was a total win; it meant I was guaranteed Thanksgiving off, instead of three 8-hour shifts we had 2 12-hour so I got 4 hours OT plus 8 hours regular plus 8 hours holiday so 22 hours pay. And while a hospital has to be open 24/7/365 I rarely had more than an hour or so of actual work since they only did labs for emergency patients that day. I just spent the day reading & listening to the radio.

i dont think there is a problem, i think papa john already recanted on his rhetoric in order to backtrack as much as possible

Would probably taste better if he made cheese pizza instead of crap pizza. But, would probably cost more to make. What's one to do
