New Jersey was interested and, for Camby's $10 million salary-cap number, could have thrown in a non-guaranteed $3.3 million Keith Van Horn contract in addition to a package that could have included prospects such as center Josh Boone, guard Marcus Williams or center Nenad Krstic, who would have had to agree to a sign-and-trade.

Alas, Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan, said the Nets didn't "have enough of nothing to give" for the three-time defending NBA blocked-shots leader and 2006-07 Defensive Player of the Year, who instead will replace the departed Elton Brand on the Clippers' front line. The Nuggets, who were way over the luxury tax and looking to shed salary, didn't want anything for Camby, at least not players with guaranteed salaries. Sure, they would have loved to have gotten a future first-round pick, but the best they could do to dump Camby was to ship him to the Clippers for the right to swap second-round picks in 2010.

Putting yourself in Thorn's shoes, do you offer Marcus Williams, Krstic or Boone for Camby?

I'd offer any of the 3.

Of course, but Denver wouldn't take them.

problem was they wanted the trade exception more than KVH's contract.

I'm glad Nets didn't get to make that trade.

Rather have Nets play the kids than have Camby around to take their minutes

I wouldnt have like this trade if it meant . Boone and Krstic can be added to trades that can bring back a player better then Camby.

I prefer Najera. Though Camby may have help the bigs develop and help us with rebounding, Najera brings a better attitude and is hopefully less injury prone.

If Frank was serious about this team being a defensive team that can shoot, then Thorn should have given him players to fit that mold. Camby would have been the best center to lock down this new identity. [/baiting]

Lock down what? Certainly not the man he is assigned to guard.

Well, I am going to leave you to your own devices to figure out what I'm saying.

I have grown weary of schooling you children, and then being insulted for it.

Well Poppa Montross, I guess sarcasm wasn't invented way back in the day.

You just insulted him and complained about being insulted in the same sentence.

Looking back I would trade Krstic or Williams but not Boone. Boone could become a near 10/10 player this season if given the minutes. Frankly, I'd rather have Boone averaging a near double/double for the next 5 years than Camby averaging a double/double for one. And whether he can still do that is questionable too.

Thank god.

Why not? He was the DPoY! And he pulled down like 13 rebounds and had 3 blocks per game!

What do they say about everything that goes around?

Everything that goes around watches Buck Williams fail to bring the Nets past the second round.

BTW, the posts praising Camby were in jest, and aimed at Cpaw who has championed the cause of debunking Camby's effectiveness.

CPAW is correct, as Nuggets received what Camby's trade value is.
