This is an amazing escape true story I read about North Korea. Escape from Camp 14. Harrowing.
I read a book written by a N Korean defector who was a prisoner, slave and it was horrible....they ate powdered moths for protein...even those not imprisoned there have nothing of substance to eat. I'll try and find the title...from all I've seen, N Korea is a horrible place

You do know that's like saying black people/fried chicken and watermelon right? Probably worse. You are using the activities of a few to dehumanize an entire ethnicity.

I love fried chicken and watermelon. Look, my joke was in bad taste. Thanks for calling me out. I wasn't trying to be malicious. I edited it.

I truly have nothing against what other cultures eat. In South America, Guinea Pig is a delicacy and I ate some while I was there.

Teriyaki (kanji: き) is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar.[1][2]

Fishyellowtail, marlin, skipjack tuna, salmon, trout, and mackerel – is mainly used in Japan, while white and red meat – chicken, pork, lamb, and beef – is more often used in the West. Other ingredients sometimes used in Japan include squid, hamburger steak, and meatballs.

The word teriyaki derives from the noun teri (照り), which refers to a shine or luster given by the sugar content in the tare (タレ), and yaki (焼き), which refers to the cooking method of grilling or broiling.[3] Traditionally the meat is dipped in or brushed with sauce several times during cooking.[4] This popular dish was originally created by Japanese cooks of the seventeenth century, when urbanization, changes in agricultural methods and exposure to new ingredients from abroad gave rise to new, innovative cooking styles.

And @MARIS61 , you are really misinformed. You can't "annihilate them." That's the whole issue. You don't think we would have tried that if it remotely might have worked? Try it and 10 million South Koreans in Seoul die, China steps in, Japan steps in, it's a shit show of Biblical proportions.

The only sane course of action is to do what we did with the Soviets for 50 years - containment and MAD.

(I should be Secretary of State, except that @HCP might try and steal that moniker from me too.)

Such a brainwashed snowflake.

In the real world, real Presidents don't hide under the desk in the oval office. Real Presidents don't kick the can down the road, further endangering their countrymen. Real Presidents defend their citizens from threats of murder by completely obliterating the threat. Period.

Most Americans don't give a shit how many N. Koreans die for their insane leader's crimes against humanity. That's on them. Yes, S. Koreans may be killed by the North, as promised. But far fewer than if the North is given another ten years to build a larger arsenal.

Here's how a "reserved" approach may play out, but I fully expect an all-out destruction of North Korea before Christmas.

Real presidents don't start wars without a good reason.
We didn't attack the USSR or China when they got nukes. We didn't attack Pakistan when they got nukes. We didn't attack the Vatican when they got nukes.
It would be very very stupid to attack North Korea because they've got nukes.
Hopefully we'll have a real president before that happens.

It is not who's got nukes, it's who is threatening to nuke us.
We were prepared to attack the Soviet Union when they threatened us with nukes, and they wisely turned tail and ran. China and Pakistan have yet to threaten us. Iran and Nkor have openly threatened to destroy our country.

Trump has threatened to destroy North Korea. Is that adequate justification for Kim nuking us?

A dog in a cage at the pound might bark a lot, but it isn't going to bite you unless you stick your arm in there.

You're defending Kim?

I'm not surprised.

I'm not surprised.

Defending? I'm just saying it is not necessary to nuke him.

Not because I want to keep him alive, but because I'd prefer not to kill millions of other people.

"Because Trump blah blah blah."

No, you misunderstood. Maris said we had to nuke NK because he threatened us. I said, well, Trump threatened NK, so wouldn't that then mean that NK has to nuke us?

The point being: threats are not sufficient justification for firing nukes.

Interesting side note: the last (only) time nuclear weapons have been used, it was (among other things) used to mitigate the casualties, both military and civilian, that would be incurred with the invasion of the Home Islands of Japan, a country where a populace with little interaction with the outside world who believed that their leader was a deity and that they had a required fanatical response to fight and die for their homeland. (As opposed to a populace with little interaction with the outside world who believes their leader is a god and who have been inculcated with a fanatical response to fight and die for their Dear Leader).

The side note: In preparation, the military commissioned a million Purple Heart medals to be ready to give to the casualties involved in the invasion attempts. Since there are still over 100k left after all the fighting since WWII, they are still being issued today.

That's a very interesting side note.

Let's see how friendly Israel would be with the US if we sent Dennis Rodman there.

We did send them Amare Stoudemire- and so far it seems more or less OK. Anyway, I believe Israel is pretty US friendly if only for Aulcie Perry.

People wonder why Asian companies are moving to the west....it's not because we're so great, it's because we're further from N Korean nukes
