So. We got an announcement from the teachers today that a student at our school got killed last night in an incident. I have a source that he committed suicide.Now the whole school knows, and all over bulletins on Myspaces, theres all these RIP and blablablas. and I don't get it. No one knew this kid. He was one of those kids that were picked on a lot and called names. And now people who do this kind of stuff are only giving him attention because of his death. He's gone now, and those people don't care. THey just think it looks cool to say all this stuff to look caring and sh*t.and friend of mine posted this after like a dozen bulletins<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>people, instead of posting bulletins on how you didn't know *****. about how you heard he was generally a good person and you hope his family does fine. and so on and so on. realize that the only reason he got this attention and sympathy is through his death. he was the kind of kid that lots of people picked on. that very few people were kind to. so how about instead of posting 99% meaningless generic bulletins, next time you see another kid like *****, don't F*ck with him. and if someone is, tell them to go lick a chode. actions (or no actions) speak much louder than this myspace junk. these r.I.p. **** bulletins are being posted with the same tool that people use to get 3 wishes or else an octopus bursts from their chest. it's a little disrespectful if you think of how many people are bsing half the stuff they say in commemoration to evan. and I do realize how I hypocritcally preach this on a bulletin.</div>Don't you think it's outrageous how people are?blah.(I censored his name, just for privacy purposes I guess)

Well I don't think there is anything wrong with posting the bulletins as a simple show of respect for the dead, but when these people don't try to take some kind of action like a gesture of flowers for the family, it becomes wrong. RIP to this guy.

I know what you mean man. There was this kid at my school in the exact same situation. I guess he lost his job and apartment (he had been out of school for one year) so he blew his head off with a gun. He was in a local band, so a bunch of kids that didn't know him during school, knew him. Anyways, the next day at school, all of these kids made t-shirts with a logo on the front that was supposed to pay respect to him or something. It was weird because no one really liked him except for the gothic kids (he was in a screamo band and some what gothic or emo or something like that) and yet all of these kids pretended to care. He has a myspace, and everyone was posting him comments. He had tons of comments. If everyone cared that much, why didn't they post any of those comments before he died? No one actually cared- they just wanted to get some pitty "he was my friend, feel sorry for me" action or something.I mean, I am not heartless. But if you didn't know the guy, or didn't like him, don't pretend like you do now. You can respect some one without pretending you were best friends or butt buddies when you weren't. The whole thing makes me mad. Maybe he wouldn't have killed himself if everyone "cared" that much before.

I really dont know what to say since it hasn't happened to me that much. But I agree with you that people try to make it like a trend more than anything.. it does become ridiculous at some point.

The same thing happened at my school this year. A girl died from a disease, and it was pathetic so see everyone do the same thing you described, when in reality nobody talked to her, cared about her, etc.

So I just finishd reading a thread in my schools myspace forum. There was a thread about him....There were a few people who knew him. and then there was this one guy who called him weak for commiting suicide.Well. just found out that he lost his mom in 3rd grade from cancer... Hes barely had any friends and sh*t. So now hes gone, everyone wants to be his friend.I don't get it....

When I was in HS my security guard(who actually had me expelled once) was found out to have murdered his wife. thats true story too.

Maybe people actually have a heart?Of course when he's alive they aren't gonna be mourning him and feeling bad for him?I didn't know him but R.I.P to him. It's called respect. Even if you weren't his friend and even if he didn't have any friends you can't at least feel sympothy for him and his family? So the popular kids are the only ones who should have people show respect to them after their death?I see what you mean but man just show some respect to the kid and let other people. You and your friend need to calm down. Of course people will show more praise after death..it's been like that forever and will continue to be like that because you don't know what you have until it's gone.

I don't see the big deal really. I mean when I was in HS, two seniors got killed in a wreck. And I ended up signing a card, didn't know them but it's just out of respect.

I mean, in my situation, I knew this kid that hated the guy's music and didn't like him to much. He couldn't stand how he treated people and all of that. But after he killed himself, my friend was acting like they were friends and he told people "What a great guy the kid was and he was so cool." That is what I am talking about. Pretending to care about him and not actually caring, that isn't showing respect. You can show respect to some one without having to make up the way you thought about him. I mean, if people were mean and never gave the kid a chance and now that he is dead, they feel bad about it and whatever, that is fine- but to pretend you were friends and try to get some kind of "reward" out of that. Like I said, it is like some people want some pitty "he was my friend, feel sorry for me" action or something out of this.If you want to pay respect to some one that didn't have friends and was made fun of a lot and ended up killing himself- start being nice and friendly to the other kids like that. Make a difference. The other kid is dead now, pay your respects, but pretending to be his best friend when you didn't even know him won't bring him back. Take action if you actually care and start being friendly and what not to other people like him. Because I bet the kids that were "too cool for him" won't do that. They will keep treating other kids like him just like they treated him. Hopefully some of them will change, but you don't see it happen often. So the question is, how much do they really care or was it all a pitty act? They jstu wanna post bulletins because everyone else and jsut dont really care jsut doing it to fit in when theya re not really respecting him.
