Not much love for the Blazers in annual GM predictions

Sorry, but every single one of those is spot on. Well the one omission might be Joel as one of the top interior defenders.

People keep screaming about how great Nate's offense is, so I guess that proves no GM's frequent this site.

Oh, I'm not complaining. I just expected the Blazers to get more votes for the WC, and BRoy to be placed higher in some player categories. It looks fine for the most part (although a bit too much sucking up to Kome, whom I think has been surpassed by DWade as best SG).

I find it sad that Flip Saunders who has coached a grand total of 0 games with the Wizards received more votes in the "offense" category than Nate.

Thank God they don't decide who gets into the playoffs based on a popularity contest.

All I can say, who cares. :dunno:

Flip Saunders has been widely regarded as one of the best offensive coaches in the league for some time ... that's got nothing whatsoever to do with the Wizards.

They don't have too.

The fans do. It's up to the blazers to make their mark. Earn the respect.

Sorry, but I find it absolutely NUTZ that somebody voted Ray Allen and Brandon as the best shooting guard in the league ahead of Kobe!

But he hasn't shown what he can do with that particular team. There's no direct history from which to extrapolate his success.

Incredibly objective ratings, IMO.

By them voting for Roy to have a breakout season, just goes to show you how stupid people are. And that Duncan is top 2 for best PF and C in the league. Every other poll goes LeBron, Kobe, Dwight.

And according to these polls, Kobe is by far the best defender in the league.

Lame polls.

Anyone find this part funny?

Which team will win the Western Conference?
1. Los Angeles Lakers 75.9%
2. San Antonio Spurs 24.1%
- Last year: Boston Celtics

or this part

Which player is most likely to have a breakout season in 2009-10?
1. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City 25.9%
2. Anthony Randolph, Golden State 14.8%
3. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City 7.4%
3. Louis Williams, Philadelphia 7.4%
Also receiving votes:
LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland; Gilbert Arenas, Washington; Aaron Brooks, Houston; Jonny Flynn, Minnesota; Rudy Gay, Memphis; Greg Oden, Portland; Brandon Roy, Portland; Ramon Sessions, Minnesota; J.R. Smith, Denver; Rodney Stuckey, Detroit; Hakim Warrick, Milwaukee; Thaddeus Young, Philadelphia

Brandon Roy got a vote for "break-out player"??? That either means the person thinks he's going to go absolutely ape-shit this year, or they don't consider 2 time all star and 2nd team All NBA as "break-out".

I like this one too.

Which team has the best home-court advantage?
1. Cleveland 37.9%
2. Utah 31.0%
3. L.A. Lakers 10.3%
3. Portland 10.3%
Also receiving votes:
Boston, Golden State, San Antonio
- Last year: Utah

All in all, I had no problems with how those 'predictions' came out.

The poll related to coaching skills, not circumstances.

Well, he's proven he understands the definition of the word at least, so that puts him one up on Nate.

Nate thinks the best offense is a strong defense, and the best defense is a strong defense.

Nate's never implemented an offensive structure on either team he's coached.

Just as some players should not have skipped college, Nate would have benefited by coaching at a lower level first.

Arenas was on that list too. I would imagine that they feel Roy is still going to improve a lot?

allen is ridiculous. roy isn't. i wouldn't be surprised at all if roy has a better year than kobe this year.

The Blazers don't deserve any respect until they beat somebody good. It's that simple.

Which player forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments?
1. LeBron James, Cleveland 39.3%
2. Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers 23.2%
3. Dwight Howard, Orlando 14.3%
4. Chris Paul, New Orleans 12.5%
Also receiving votes:
Lamar Odom, L.A. Lakers; Shaquille O'Neal, Cleveland; Dwyane Wade, Miami

Lamar Odom?

Tell it to the Magic fans. They won the conference and are given 7% chance of doing it again?

At the same time, they made some what is probably a lateral move(at best), where Boston and Cleveland made much more solid moves to improve. The logic makes sense.

Kevin Pritchard is arrogant. The GM votes reflect the hatred that other GMs have for Portland because of Kevin Pritchard. :ghoti:

Every single one? D-Howard is the best offensive rebounder in the league? Zach Randolph got a vote in this category, as did Paul Millsap and Udonis Haslem - but Greg Oden did not get any votes...

Please... let's not forget that some of the people with a vote run teams like the Clippers, The Bucks, the Kings and the like. The league has tons of bad general managers who are only in the place they are because of name recognition as past players, good sucking up to the owner skills or are cheap...

People keep screaming about how great Nate's offense is, so I guess that proves no GM's frequent this site.

It only proves that there are tons of people who are clueless and have a GM title in the league. Should not be a real surprise, up to 3 years ago we had people like Steve Patterson and John Nash as our GM - is this really a surprise that tons of clueless people run some of the teams in the league?

The Blazers had one of the most efficient, per possession offense in the league last year, no opinions by Mike Dunlevy or whoever runs the Bucks nowadays required. The Blazers had the highest win margin in the league after the all-star game last year - no need to hear what Chris Wallace, Mike Dunleavey, Larry Riley or Rod Higgins think...

I think it pays to remember that the GMs of the Grizzlies, the Clippers, the Bobcats and the Timberwolves get to vote in this thing.

Not exactly a brain trust.

I don't understand how Cleveland has the best home court when it's just their PA announcer yelling the entire time to tell people to scream with him. Their team was dominant at home last season, but it wasn't exactly the most intimidating place for opponents to play. I'd still put Utah up there.
