2013 = 20,250 runs (675 Aver per team)
2000 = 24,792 runs (832 Aver per team)

2014 = 3,360 Home runs (112 Aver per team) PROJECTED
2013 = 4,650 Home runs (155 Aver per team)
2000 = 5,693 Home runs (190 Aver per team)

With between 35-40 games left in the season there are currently only 7 players in the AL with 25 or more homes runs & only 2 players in the NL with more then 25 home runs. There's also a strong possibility that for the 1st time since 1982 no player will hit 40 home runs. Cruz currently has 34 with just over a month to go.

Personally I've got to be honest & go along with the Glavine / Maddox commercial, "Chicks dig the long ball" I kidda miss that.

We're moving back into the 70s & 80s. where in those 20 years the 40 HR mark was only reached a total of 33 times & 50 HRs only reached once. Compared to the 20 years that followed 1990-2009 where the 40 HR mark was reached 159 times (72 between 1990-1999 & 87 times between 2000 & 2009). And the 50 HR mark 24 times. (12 between 1990-1999 & 12 between 2000-2009)

So far in the first 4 years of this latest decade starting in 2010 the 40 HR mark has only been reached 12 times & the 50 HR mark twice.

Its not just PEDs. Its also guys staying away from supplements to avoid a failed test due to cross contamination.
