Now we just need that scoring wing...

In two seasons, Durant will be a free agent. Cap space plan, anyone?

Seriously though, do you guys think we are done for the summer?

I do think Barton will add some solid scoring off the bench. With Blake to help out at PG and a scoring center to draw some attention--and his natural development, I do see him as that wing. CJ or Crabbe would be icing on the cake, but I will be surprised if Barton isn't that wing scorer this year.

I think Portland is done with "major moves." They may add a minimum salary guy or something, but I'd be surprised if something as significant as a "scoring wing" (which implies an above average scorer to me, at least on a rate basis) were added via trade. Outside of their starters, the Blazers don't have a lot of significant trade assets and I don't think they can afford to lose any of their starters.

I really wouldn't mind seeing a consolidation trade of sorts. Dorell Wright, Joel Freeland, Allen Crabbe, and Meyers Leonard. We have some guys that are outside the rotation right now. I wonder if we could use a few of them to add another veteran like Marion or Carter to the bench.

That would be great, I just don't think those guys you want to consolidate have a lot of value. I think Dallas still values Marion and Carter, especially Carter who's still playing at a relatively high level. Shawn Marion had a down season, so if Portland could buy low on him, that would be nice.

We have 15 guys now.

Actually, I imagine he wouldn't mind a trade. The guy is pretty heavily buried right now.

I was wondering about if Meyers Leonard or Joel Freeland would want to play on another team. So throw Crabbe on that list. CJ is probably on that list as well.

Consolidation for what? No one wants our garbage.

You know Crabbe sure hopes to god that the Blazers are.

bahahahaha. I just got this image in my head of Crabbe walking into Olshey's office going "Come on dude, REALLY? What about me?"

Olshey: "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

I'm not saying we're going to deal them for a star, but I think Crabbe and Leonard have value. Wright had an off year, but I'm sure some teams would like to have him. I'm not really sure about Freeland's value around the league.

Honestly, I think trading Leonard would be really stupid at this point. We drafted him knowing it was going to take several years for him to develop. Now trade him for nothing before he gets there?

I would much rather trade CJ and Freeland if given the choice. Barton is progressing too quickly to give up on him, and he has a high ceiling. Leonard and Crabbe don't have much value, but also have great potential. I'm not convinced CJ has much of a ceiling. I thought he was BPA at the time, but I still don't see that he has any more upside than Barton or Crabbe. I like Freeland, but Kaman now has the role of reliable big man off the bench. We can deal him and allow Leonard more time to develop and earn minutes. If you can get a scoring wing for CJ, Freeland and Wright you take it and run.

[sadly I completely forgot about Claver.]

FWIW, I couldn't stand to trade Robinson right now. He looks so happy to be in one place for a second year.

I tend to agree about Leonard. At this point just keep working with him and see what happens. He might end up being insurance in case Rolo gets a huge offer next summer.

Leonard is a bit of an enigma. He reminds me a lot of Martell. He is smart, has superior athletic ability, but just can't seem to get it together on the court. It is less surprising for a big man and same could be said for Przybilla and Splitter. If Leonard had slow feet, bad hands, bad shooting touch or was stupid I could see dumping him. But, he is not.

If he ever puts it together, he could be really good. That's why it's worth it to hang onto him.

McCollum wright and Leonard still might get you Thad young

Maybe I should have asked this question in this thread. What can Freeland/Wright/Claver net you?

Charlotte was shopping Gerald Henderson before the draft. What might charlotte need in return?

What is he like now? I know he was more than decent earlier, but I don't know about the last couple of years. Is it a salary dump or something?I thought he was pretty good.

I would like to see CJ get minutes at SG. Which leaves "some" back up minutes at SF for Wes. Sure if we can find a really good wing who can attack the basket then trade for him, but if we are talking average players then we would be better off with Wes.
