Solarte taking Nunez's number. I cannot remember a time when the Yankees gave another players someone's number who was on the 49 man. Unless Nunez gave it up willingly I think something is going on no?

...yup, like we were discussing the other day, something is cooking.

Yeah if I am Nunez I do not willingly hand my number over to the guy who took my spot on the big league roster. If they were just putting someone on the 60 day DL the would not have needed to wait this long.

I'd like to see Nunez sent with one of the young catchers for some kind of power bat. The bench is in serious need of some power.

They probably shopped the guy plenty, he was being showcased this spring and failed miserably, sailing balls over the 1B head into the stands like Knoblauch, it was a joke.

Don't think there'll be an abundance of takers for him, (Nuzez) but in Scranton he can't hurt the big club. I was glad they took Solarte, the man earned it, got a feeling he will factor in well before this season is through.

I posted Nunez was DFA'd last night....

It's a shame, the guy was given every opportunity to succeed.

Nunez is a bad hitter and one of the worst fielding players in the game today - there's less than zero market for crappy players like him. He's done.

Dan I guarantee you that some team will pick him up. And don't be surprised if its the Mets.

Yep. Won't see him in a Yankee uniform. Not disciplined at the plate
and especially in the field. BTW. Nunez is a product of the astute
Yankee scouting system. LOL

Glad to see Solarte made it for a number of reasons number one being the infield positions can be filled by a gamer who knows what he is doing and worked hard to make the team. Nunez has gotten to where he couldn't fill sandbags. And if the Yankees Scouts are the ones responsible for finding Solarte then a big kudos and its about time, keep finding those gold nuggets.

...yup, Solarte did everything he could do to merit a spot...and Nunez did everything he could do to lose a spot.

Hey, aren't we glad the Yankees didn't jump on Drew, there may be a couple more gems in that allegedly lousy farm.

He could never bitch & moan that he wasn't given a fair shot. IMO the Yankees were more then patient with him by giving him every opportunity to develop.

I thought Solarte was obtained in a trade......not sure. Never thought
he was a product of the Yankee system.
