Will always love Mattingly but he's simply not a good manager. That being said I look at that Dodger team and outside of the big two pitchers what the hell are they spending $300 million on? Seriously?

Yeah- and Donnie the genius may have lost this series in game one when he yanked Kershaw score tied 1-1, 7th inn, 2 out and bases loaded with Wright due up- reliever Baez promptly served up a two out two run single- 3-1 Mets, game over. Mattingly pushed the wrong button, again.
I know a MGR needs "good players" to succeed, but there are plenty enough choices, matchups, decisions and gut checks where MGRs become the ultimate difference maker in the outcome directly as a result of his in-game "moves".

A couple of things I noted in todays articles. First Rob Lowe Tweeting or Twooting or what ever they call it that Mattingly should be fired. Who the fuck is Lowe, a little puke who played Drew Peterson wife killer on a Lifetime Movie. A real Stage and Screen Stunner. Then Eithier going off on Mattingly, spoiled little guppy, never could be the player that Donnie was.

...Eithier is grossly over paid and over rated...and should be replaced if possible...Puig will likely be gone too...same with Grienke.

...as far as Lowe, his biggest claim to fame was getting busted by video tape for being with 2 under aged girls in a hotel room.

That blow up between him and Ethier during the game isn't going to do him any favors. As for the Kershaw move I've always thought that you let the other team beat your best. If I had a Kershaw I'd rather lose with him. Actually, I should say I'd rather the Mets try and beat him. They will fall back on the Kershaw and seventh innings struggles history but this is the playoffs and he's your best. Let him go after Wright. As for players, like I said when I see the amount of money spent I just cannot believe the lack of offense the Dodgers have on their roster. If you put them side by side I would take the Mets roster over LA everyday of the week.

And last nights hero 2nd baseman Daniel Murphy is a free agent that is not expected to be resigned by the Mets ($8M this past season) I've no doubt some team will give him a decent contract.

I'd take him.

I was going to mention the same incident(s)........Lowe's name was shit for a decade, and could not buy a job. Now look at the ass, he's got his own show, I'm sure will Flounder like Lowe's life in acting.......

...Dodgers fans have gotta be livid right now.

I am honestly shocked there wasn't a riot. LA's Bums Fans, have been pissed off for 2 yrs now, ever since TWB-C bought the rights to TV
TWB-C has only 30% of the Los Angeles TV Market, which means approximately 70% of 20 Million Viewers, Can NOT see a Bums game.

(Several Surveys of 100s of thousands of Angelino's) as well as Time Warner Bros Cable's numbers of Homes that don't get TWB-C,) reveal the vast majority of Southern Californian's can't see a Bums game if they wanted to, in person or on TV. Which has led to 2 long lengthy court battles; "Citizens of L.A. and L.A. County vs TWB-C."

the rest of the Nation is getting screwed too, since no other station can broadcast. Tho' TWB has loosened the reigns a tiny bit, allowing 2-3 games to be televised via MLB-TV, ESPN, and Fox Sports. It's clearly not enough on TWB's part......

So yes, most So. Cal Fans are besides themselves, while the ticket prices climbed 140% this year alone. The Bums Ownership will be the demise of this team, perhaps in time they will win a Series, but they're losing Fans faster than an X-15 Flies.......!!! Even tho' the Stadium is usually sold out or packed with Fans, were not seeing the underlying bleeding, and its not Dodger Blue........

Leaving Millions of Bums Fans without a single Bums game on TV.

Not a bad ball player (he'll be 31 in April) will probably be looking for AT LEAST 5 years between 12-15M per. I think I'd rather give Refsnyder a shot. JMO.

If you're curious, http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/murphda08.shtml

I agree, I'd give Ref a shot. It's beyond time, the Yanx Farm System develops and signs good talent, and grow a Team from within, with an occassional FA, to round things off.

Seems this is the year of the Rookies or Top Prospects:
Bird
Severino
Judge in the wings

Just to name a few

Gallo
Bryant
Soler
Baez
A. Russell
Schwarber
Conforto
Syndergaard
Matz
Plawecki
McCullers
Jung Ho Kang
Pederson
Seager
Guerrero
Correa
Velasquez
Piscotty
Chi Chi Gonzalez
Estrada
Osuna

and a helluva lot more that weren't in PS play......

I do love the job Eptein did in putting that team (Cubs) together.

They should have themselves a little window where they can compete for a few years. That aside it wouldn't be shocking if they won the WS this year. They have the stud pitcher along with Lester who seems to shine brightest on the playoff stage. Their lineup is well balanced as well. Should be a great series with the Mets.

...the Sox should have never gotten rid of Theo.

...and I foresaw great things for the Cubs this time last year. :blazerwookie:

...nope, and you were one of the ones who doubted what I said about the Cubs being a team to be reckoned with very soon.

...I guess my point is, while some predictions don't alway pan out, some do. :bgrin:

And sometimes it pays to be old:oldman: because I don't remember that.:smiley-beljise_har:

...fwiw, this is all tongue in cheek...if I was truly that good at predicting the future, among other things, I'd have the winning lottery numbers this weekend too.

:bgrin: :bgrin: :bgrin:

In my defense adding guys like Hammell, Lester & Bryant helped a little & also I didn't FORESEE Arrieta having this kind of a breakout season. So there!

...the addition of Lester as well as their excellent farm system were covered in that thread as well as others...so there ! :bgrin:

...Rick, all you need is one of these;

And what have they won? A WC playoff game and defeated an obvious overachieving overrated Cardinal team which I knew weren't going anywhere. They're now facing a team(Mets) which has better, deeper starting pitching and MORE dangerous better hitters than the Cards.
WS title or bust- just like Cashman's Yankees.
Welcome to the big time, Cubs.

This year could very well be the Cubs best latest chance to win WS.....seen plenty of other teams with good young players who thought they would see more opportunities to get to and win a WS....

Pitching......pitching......the usual deciding factor....just like in 1969 when the Mets caught the Cubs for first place and advanced to and won the WS......Mets had a couple of pitchers named Seaver, Koosman, Gentry, Ryan...ect......

Cubs are an exciting very good young team.....but unfortunately for those fine young hitters....the pitching (or lack of) will be the deciding factor.

And if the Cubs do beat the Mets, I can't see them beating the Jays or Royals in the WS.
Looks to me like the Cubs absolutely need big games from Arrieta and Lester in ALL of their starts in order to have a pennant clinching parade or a WS parade. Sorry ....jmo

Not for nothing but in a seven game series what team doesn't need big games from their top two starters to win? If deGrom and Harvey crap the bed do you think the Mets have any chance to win? If Price comes up with another playoff dub of a performance Toronto will go back home down 0-2. If the series was to go seven you figure Arrieta is going to pitch three times and Lester twice. For the Mets deGrom three times and Harvey twice. So, yes of course any team would need big starts from their top two in order to win.

Mets have better -imo- secondary SP than Cubs with Syndegaard and Matz. Cubs' secondary SP are not much more than long relievers.
Could very well be exposed in a seven game series.....or a series lasting longer than four games as was the case in NLDS.
