..O/T...well I FINALLY broke down and surrendered

...always been a pc user...and never used an apple product before but bought a used 7 year old macbook pro for less than $200. Only had it for 2 days and I'm hooked.
...took awhile to learn the simple differences (there's a video on youtube than can teach you anything) and after installing the Chrome browser I was off and running.

...a few minutes ago I used my Dell e6400 again and I had to reprogram my brain to used it again...it felt strangely foreign already. And the mouse gestures no longer felt right and this is after using a pc for 16 years and only being away from it for 2 days...strange how the mind works.


...like I said, this thing is 7 years old and I'm still learning it but the difference in build quality, simplicity, and performance is really surprising. If this old one runs this well, I cannot fathom what a new one must be like. I'm gonna play with this one awhile then decide whether to invest in a new or newer one or simply add an SSD and some extra RAM to this one.






...in summation, WOW.

Back in '10 I bought my girlfriend an Apple I-Phone. Made a couple of trips to the Apple Store with her and was impressed with the technical knowledge of the In-store techs and the manner in which they shared with Apple Customers. Made an additional trip with her just recently and am now considering purchasing a mini mac. Pricey but damn they are so smooth in performance and people who are into graphics tell me that the Macs are the best.

Ha...the Mac virus FUD was dispelled last year. Mac OS is just as vulnerable. And if you ever tried to operate PCs in a Mac dominated environment, than you'd have experienced how much akin Mac OS is to a virus itself.

On a performance and price basis, they just aren't worth it. Add the cult of personality aura bs, apple fanboys are nothing more than a bunch of codependent tech snobs.

Back in 01 I was considering a move to Mac and a friend of mine asked me if I were trying to be a Bolshevik. His advice was to stick to the PC. Until your post Totus 44 I never heard of a virus affecting a Mac. That being said I'll have to bring that up on my next trip to the Apple store. I started out on Windows 95 and have stood the course to my now current Windows 7. Bought the girlfriend a Windows 8 PC for Christmas and that is a smooth system. I think my main bitch with the PC is the constant changes of the systems and I liked XP best. At any rate I'll stick to what I have until the service contract expires then go from there.

Yeah, I recall getting hit with a Mac network virus back in 2008 at work. Destroyed a Mac HD system, and caused dozen of folks to completely wipe their laptops and an iPad. Over the next couple of years, 3 of the affected people had to deal with identity fraud...and they did everything electronically on iPhone, iPad and Macbooks.

Rule of thumb, assume no device is safe, get the protection you can afford.

...hey, again, WATCH IT !

...macs are no more or no less prone to viruses than pcs....the difference is that there are far more pcs and so hackers targeted pcs more for that reason alone.

...and no Prius for me...I'll stick with my 9 year old GMC and my 65 year old tractor.
