It all makes sense now. There is a $40k/plate dinner tonight a George Clooney's house with Obama as the guest of honor, and tickets weren't going very fast as of last weekend. Hence the phony 'pivot' on gay marriage, and guess what? 40 more Hollywood elites have signed up for the dinner in the past 3 days, with most in the last 24 hours. Norman Lear cut a check for $80k, and he's not even going to go, but he'll donate his "plates".

I'll be caught in Obamajam XII tonight and tomorrow.

Vice President Joe Biden apologized to President Obama on Wednesday for getting ahead of his boss by coming out publicly in favor of same-sex marriages, sources familiar with the exchange told ABC News.

The conversation took place in the Oval Office before Obama sat down with ABC News’ Robin Roberts for an interview during which he announced support for the unions, the sources said.

Biden set into motion frenzy over Obama’s position on same-sex marriage after saying Sunday on “Meet the Press” that he was “absolutely comfortable” with the unions.

Obama told Roberts yesterday that Biden “probably got out a little bit over his skis, but out of generosity of spirit.”

“I think Joe is an extremely generous loving person. And I think he was responding honestly in terms of how he felt,” Obama said.

“Would I have preferred to have done this in my own way? In my own terms without there being a lot of notice to everybody that this is where we were going? Sure,” Obama said. “But all’s well that ends well.”

Well if this is strickly a political move, and no other president has ever done this . . . it seems to be more a reflection of the change in society's view on the topic.

just following Dick Cheney's groundbreaking and historic stance on the issue, a few years late to the party I suppose.

I guess I don't see how saying he agrees with it (which I do as well), yet it's up to the states to decide their own laws on gay marriage, is that big of a deal. If Obama came out and said that he agrees with abortion, but that it should be up to the states to decide their laws on it, well, that would be news, IMO. That would be worthy of front page news.

How many states have passed laws banning gay marriage? That's a reflection on society's view on the topic.

What I want to know is Denny's stance on this matter.... Because I'm voting Denny in 2012.

Unless you give me an answer I don't want to hear.

Clint Eastwood got it right. He articulated my position exactly.

I'm good with Eastwoods stance as well. I really don't give a fuck really. do what you do. just don't get all annoying with it.

In related news, Mitt Romney is declaring that the tradition of marriage should be preserved. So I guess he's advocating for Polygamy, right? =]

Cool story, I didn't know Obama was preaching against gay marriage because it's against tradition.

That it's against tradition is part of Obama's evolving stance on the issue.

I applaud him for his position, but it really is a weak/token position. The guy is supposed to be a constitutional scholar and doesn't see that civil unions and marriage are "separate but equal" (not really equal at all!), that if one state performs a marriage the other states have to recognize them, and more significant related constitutional issues.

His deeds are worthy, though. Ending DADT and not defending DOMA are to his credit.

On this matter, he's being a weasel.

Um..am I the only one who noticed the compass on the weather vain is incorrect?
I trust the artist. He has an appropriately wacky signature.
