Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney both claim President Obama said that "Americans are lazy." He didn't. To the contrary, Obama has consistently and repeatedly praised American workers as the "most productive in the world," a bit of boosterism he has repeated dozens of times. His recent words — "we've been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades" — actually referred to collective efforts to promote foreign investment in the U.S., and not to American workers or voters as individuals. Perry and Romney simply rip those words out of their context in order to mislead.

Two things he has pushed for that would help are overhauling the patent system and focusing on STEM education in schools.

One thing that really helped Clinton was Ron Brown as trade secretary. He did a hell of a job negotiating deals that helped the economy.

The patent system isn't so much the problem as the Chinese routinely steal our intellectual property.

Soooo, tell me, I have seen the entire speach that he gave. I took what he said the same way. It was as if he was placing the blame on "the american people", and he did in fact say we had become lazy.

Actually, he's primarily blaming the government.

We've kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren't out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America. And so one of the things that my administration has done is set up something called SelectUSA that organizes all the government agencies to work with state and local governments where they're seeking assistance from us, to go out there and make it easier for foreign investors to build a plant in the United States...

and then...

Well, we've lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge and Hoover Dam and unleashed all the potential in this country.

Clearly, what we need is more government. Bigger government. More involved government. Because without that, our country loses ambition and becomes lazy.

no no , I did catch that as well. The whole jest of the speach was more "support my ideas" bs. But I did take his referance to lazy as being the an american in general. although it does get a bit fuzzy with him placing blame everywhere else all the time..lemme see, who did he blame today...

on a side note, I hope you caught Christys comments on obummer saying that he avoided the super commity debate because he knew it would fail...that is golden. oh, and a great way to blame the right wing again.

I expect you have some sort of disability, then, or your partisanship is so severe that you reject reality, because it is quite obvious what he's talking about in context:
