Oden held out of practice today as a precaution

I know it's only practice, but to me this screams "fragile"

Roy had surgery a month ago, and he's practicing full. I get that things happen, but he should be practicing. Am I forgetting about years past when they were this overly cautious about a player

There is the MM I've come to enjoy . . . we need some balance on this board.

I would love to come back at you . . . but you might have a point here. : )

(Note: hey mod, can we get a normal or big grin smile on the smiles board to the right on the main page . . . I know I can click on more, but I'm a bit on the lazy side.)

Lame. Take the training wheels off. Let the kid play.

I agree. They are taking things way too serious with Oden. I mean if they always treat any injury he gets this way, he will start to loose confidence in his own abilities and get down on himself for always being injured. Let the boy play!

You're more apt to re-injure an ankle if its already tweaked. The ankle isn't as strong and even when jumping its easier to twist in a more serious fashion.

Hell, I'm just happy I didn't wake up this morning and see the words "exploratory surgery" in the O sports section.

He can gain nothing by playing today.

I think I see Jason Quick peeking thru the blinds!

What's the point of pushing him to play if he's not 100%. Remember his repaired knee is not completely right yet. And aren't big men more injury-prone? We have a ton of time. Besides, this is training camp. Hell, I'd rather have him sit if this was during the winter in the regular season. Now if we're talking Playoff run, that's different, but last I checked it's early October.

Except

1. Experience
2. Conditioning
3. Familiarity with teammates
4. More confidence
5. Help make the team better by being out there

Other than that though you are correct

He'll gain those things during the preseason games. He wasn't going to acquire all those traits in 1 afternoon.

Lay off my boy Quick! By the way, do you think OUR ducks have a chance this weekend? PS-GO Utes!

Who isnt "your boy"?

Go Trojans!
The Trojans are going to be fired up and looking to get back on track at home on Saturday. I honestly dont think your Ducks have a shot.

Rebecka Harlow isn't. That's his girl

I got no problem with holding him out for one day. I can see how it could be interpreted as an over-reaction, but considering he's still coming back from major surgery and considering how much time, effort, and MONEY is being invested in him, I can totally understand it. Now if this continues to happen five, six months from now, I may be a little less understanding.

I have to agree here. It's only the 2nd day of practice. Come on we're talkin bout practice!

He's got another 3.5 weeks to get going before the season starts. Why aggravate an injury that will linger into the start of the season anyways?
