Wow, Bayno's praise for Batum was, like, "Pinch me, I must be dreaming!"![]()
What did he say?
So what did Oden say?
In a nutshell, he said, "Nicolus is a very, very special player. The sky is the beginning of his limit. I hope he's a Blazer for his entire NBA career."
"Both knees practiced hard."
The crazy part for me is that Nic's calling card was just as a 'defensive stopper' ... I can't recall too many 'stoppers' who have held, or currently hold, the 50/40/90 holy grail of wing/guard shooting statistics -- He's still a third option on offense because he gets so many of his shots off of the attention that LMA and Brandon get, but he's far exceeded any expectations I had of him coming into the sesaon (and I thought he was going to be pretty improved, based on what I heard/saw of the European championships).
I'm pretty sure you're trying to make a Rasheed reference here, but not 100% sure.
Do they do replay for these things?

So what did Oden say?
-Wants to be at 265-275lbs but its tough when he can't run
Not even sure he is 3rd option, it's Brandon, LMA, Miller and then Nic, it seems. It's just that when Roy attacks and causes the defense to collapse, he is usually the one that get the open shot simply because Miller is not a good jump-shooter.
I got the impression that he won't be back this year. He didn't say that he wouldn't, but I wasn't really encourage by what he said.
Yeah, Batum has been a huge surprise this season. I had no idea the kid could shoot like that. He's got a SWEET, SWEET stroke, and we're going to be watching it for years.Even if he could, I would hope that he wouldn't. The playoffs start in a month and he's only walking on a treadmill. He's got a long ways to go before he's in game shape. I'd hate for him to rush back with a weak leg or two and strain, pull, break, or tear anything.
As for Nic, yeah, he's special. Anybody that can't see that needs to get their eyes checked. I think his biggest problem is that he rarely has any plays called for him and he just lets the game come to him. I would hope we start running him into the offense a little bit more since he's becoming very reliable.
My favorite part about the game last night is when he caught the ball in the corner, pump faked, put it on the floor and tried to posterize Bosh. If he just gets more aggressive with the ball in his hands he could take this team to the next level.
