Ever had it? I bought some from Costco the other day. Looks like friggin' baby puke, but MAN is so good...and SO good for you, too!!

Or, are there similar drinks and/or supplements you take to keep your relative health, vitality, and tremendous youthful appearance? :)

Juice has as much sugar as soda. So if you are at risk for diabetes, consider that. Otherwise, yeah it has lots of good stuff for you too!

just buy a juicer. these odwallas really are just a bunch of juice smoothies.

So... until recently I thought all this superfood stuff was crap. I thought I had a relatively good diet, I don't eat fast food, don't eat a lot of fat greasy stuff... chicken, fish etc... for the the most part.

Anyway, so like 3 years ago I was running marathons, healthy and happy. Then things started to go wrong. My blood pressure started going up, my my liver started hurting, my kidneys started leaking protein, I had crazy fatigue, aches, pre diabetes, pre-cancerous tumors etc... etc...

Again, my diet wasn't junk, I saw a nutritionist for pre diabetes and they said they don't get people like me in there... not too overweight, eat pretty good.

However... there was on thing about my diet... I almost never ate fruits and veggies. Fruits like never, and veggies maybe only with dinner. Very few salads.

So to control my issues that seemed to be escalating, I was put on 5 medications, none of which seemed to do much honestly.

So after a lot of head scratching, I happened to watch the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly dead. Sure it looked a bit like a long infomercial for a juicer, but I decided to give it a shot. (Food Matters is another interesting movie)

WHOLLY SHIT what a difference it made... I only started jucing on Friday... and today is Tuesday and my blook pressure is lower than it has been in years! And... no more protein in urine. I am shocked honestly. I thought all the nutrition stuff was all bunch of crap.

Right now I eat one meal a day and drink juice the rest. (And not... it isn't fruit juice for the most part... mostly green things) When I can completely taper off coffee I am going to go juice only until I loss 20 lbs.

I seriously think the biggest flaw in our health care in the US is that we treat symptoms with all kinds of medicines that create even more problems... which the drug industry loves because they have a pill for those too. The

My goal is to be off all medicine this year, and I know I will be able to do it. My medicine from now on is nutrition. Drs are good for broken bones, pain management stuff like that... but all too happy to prescribe a pill when they should be describing proper nutrition to let the body heal itself.

BTW ABM, those Odwalla ones are good in a pinch no doubt... but in the movies they said that food looses a lot of its nutrition pretty quickly... so in general buying anything processed and from a superstore won't be as good for you. That being said... I did buy some of them and some of the carrot juice for times I am in a hurry and too busy to juice it myself.

AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing that! I may just end up purchasing a juicer now. :)

The logistics of having enough produce on hand for everything is a bit crazy.

yeah, i know. i usually buy and juice right away....its not actually that expensive...beets keep for a while as do the apple and lemons. celery, not so much.

agree 100%, especially that last line!

While true, who drinks 8oz of coke? A serving is 12oz minimum (real person drinking serving, not a serving for nutritional purposes). That said, people do need to be careful with juice, especially fruit juice, heavy diets.

nobody, I was just sharing apples to apples for the amount of sugar in 8 oz of each beverage (the serving size of odwalla)

Some fruit a day is good, but more is not better. Fruit is loaded with sugar. Veggies are very good you can usually load up all you want on those.

Main reason I don't eat more fruits and veggies is they have higher cost per calorie. Might not matter much if your trying to lose weight but if I'm running and trying to maintain weight I have to eat over 4k calories a day.

Those odwalla are tasty though. If they were cheaper I'd buy some. I make shakes with frozen fruit, fresh fruit and protein power in the tiny little magic bullet type blender. Haven't ever had veggie smoothies I've liked much I usually saute all my veggies in oil. Been eating a lot of Quinoa lately its easy to set up in the rice maker when I get home then automatically cooks itself. Best part is its super duper cheap.

The main think I was looking for ABM was easy to clean. We picked up a Breville and we like it. Had a hand me down juicer before and I hated the cleanup.

Excellent. My gal purchased one (plus, a couple of juicing recipe books) for me for Christmas:)

Thanks again!!
