Offending people online on social networks- do you give a shit?

simple question. do you give a fuck or not?

I kind of go "out there" on my twitter account....i should probably disassociate it from my email I use for business and personal purposes from time/time...but oh well. i generally don't give a shit.

I try not to offend on facebook, and in a couple other forums, out of respect for family and friends who don't share my twisted sense of humor.

I'm worse on here than I am in person.

I tone things down online. Still more offensive (potentially) than most (both in my blog and on Facebook) but less so than I'm normally tempted to be.

its pretty self regulating - if they find you boring or over the top, you get dropped. nobody has to suffer anyone they dont want too, so really its up to you if you personally dont care, but some other people might and solve things for themselves

I'm just as argumentative/irritable/irritating in person ... I probably swear just as much here as I do in person too, but I'm a lot less 'wordy' out in the wild than I am around here. Generally I don't give a shit in either realm.

I ramp things up online, but am nothing like this in person, and I don't go near Facebook, twitter or anything resembling those sites because A. I don't have the time B. They don't interest me at all and C. It would not help my business (Real Estate) for clients to see my dark, opinionated side.

I tone it way down. If it gets posted on the internet it will be out there for years and years. Who knows who might come across something you posted that could cost you in a court case or a back ground search for a job.

I personally know one guy who lost his job due to posts online.

Besides all of that, I firmly believe that people who talk shit on message boards are cowards. I don't think of myself as a coward so I don't talk shit online.
If I need to do that bad enough I will talk that shit face to face.

if i'm legitimately friends with someone, obviously i wouldn't want to offend them. but at the same time, if i'm actually friends with someone, i'm pretty sure they know me well enough to not get offended by anything i would say or do.
