"The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks have completed a seven-player trade that launches Washington's long-anticipated rebuilding project in earnest and sends Wizards mainstays Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to the Mavericks.

The teams agreed on the principal pieces Friday: Butler, Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to Dallas for Josh Howard and Drew Gooden. Mavericks reserves Quinton Ross and James Singleton were added to the deal Saturday and are also Washington-bound, with Dallas due to receive cash considerations in addition to the three players."

talk about it.

ugh. West gets stronger.

Wish KP woulda done something.

Yeah, it's kind of nuts how strong the west has gotten the last decade or so.

I wish we had players with big enough contracts that we wouldn't have had to combine something like 5 players, and trade them Washington to get a C who probably will leave in 30 games, a wasted player in Stevenson and a player horribly overrated by Blazer fans.

Damn you Pritchard.

sad day for the blazers. kpee dropped the ball. thats how good gms pull off trades. something for nothing.

and we also know that it was b.s. that the wiz wanted young talent back. its more kpee having no trade skills whatsoever

oh and stein said the mavs will have haywoods birds right. theres goes blazer fans excuse about not keeping hayward pass this season. more reason to be sick. the only good news is okc wont get him.

I think we had enough to get Haywood. Caron for Howard, I coulda lived with, but I didn't want them getting Haywood also.

Also, I doubt I would pay this much heed if it were an eastern team trading with WAS.

Well all we really have is young talent.... I mean other than Miller, Steve really our team is really young.

its the fact we have a below average gm. always expect excuses and the phrase next year with lottos mixed in. thats our shit head gm in a nutshell.

I posted this in another thread. I don't think this is an impact trade for Dallas at all.

Josh Howard is almost exactly the same player as Caron Butler...similar career productivity, same age, similarly bad season this year.

So, Dallas is swapping cap space for Brendan Haywood and doing a "challenge" swap of small forwards...your "problem" (talented small foward who's struggling) for mine and we'll see who gets luckier with a player reviving his season.

Haywood would have been particularly valuable to a big-man starved team like Portland, but for Dallas he's merely depth on caliber with Dampier and not particularly better than Gooden, whom Dallas trades away in the deal.

my thoughts as well. heywood might actually start sulking as he will now have average players to beat out for PT.

We had them and still did nothing last season. KP can't seal the deal outside the draft. He doesn't have the stomach for it apparently.

This is where people seem to think that because they can figure a trade out on trade checker, it must be good.

I think it's safe to say that Washington demanded that the Mavs take Stevenson in their trade. Portland might've only wanted Haywood, or Haywood and Butler and *not* Stevenson.

To get those 3, we probably would've had to have traded Blake, Bayless, Webster, Outlaw, Rudy and Cunningham or Pendergraph.

Or MAYBE the Wizards would've been ok with Joel and Outlaw and Blake. But it's unlikely (and that's only if we don't take back Stevenson..and if they insisted on Stevenson, we likely would've had to add in Webster.

So color me a homer, but trading potentially Blake, Bayless, Webster, Outlaw, Rudy and probably one of the two rookies or the 3 Dallas traded for, or trading Joel, Blake, Outlaw for Butler and Haywood (assuming that the Wizards wouldn't demand we take Stevenson), or trading those 3 with Webster (assuming they demanded we take Stevenson) for an overrated SF, a contract year C, and a player who never has been anything special, is a bit of a hard pill to swallow.

Damn you KP, for not being able to convince another team for taking very little for an overrated C, or overrated C and overrated SF!

If only he had sealed the deal on Jefferson or Carter. Portland would be so much better, despite neither player playing even as well as Andre Miller.

Because he'd have made A Trade. And everyone knows A Trade is always win, regardless of what you get.

its just blazer fans making excuses for a below average p.o.s. gm

Butler is an all star caliber SF, and doesn't get nearly as much love by the media as he should. I don't think he's overrated at all

Do you have any counter-excuses? That's how discussion works. One person makes reasoned excuses and another person, if he/she disagrees, makes countering reasoned excuses.

I don't think so, either, but Josh Howard has been just as good in his career. The Mavericks are giving up as much as they're getting.

west teams are moving forward

blazers moving back while they wait for a 21 yr old gimp

lots of titles in our future.... when kpee feels we are "ready"

just feeding blazer fans more shit

This thread is like an IQ test...depending on your reply, I can easily estimate your IQ...

He's a so-so outside shooter, his shooting % is the 3rd worst of his career, his PER is below the league average (and below all but Martel Websters iirc), AND his per 36 averages aren't significantly higher (if they are at all) than Martel, Rudy or Batum.

And he's been putting up these "good" numbers on a crappy team.

So yes, he's overrated.

Yes because you know exactly what trades were offered. Those were high profile guys that got moved, but we'll never know what deals KP turned down.

Boo hoo. What is your excuse for being a below average poster?

i think ive posted a few times why i feel kpee blows beyond reason

i get yelled at for saying the same thing yet you want me to post it again why e sucks?

blah blah blah blah we should have gotten richard jefferson blah blah that would have been great blah blah.

id rather have andre myself, but whatever to each his own.

but wow richard jefferson would have been amazing right now!! pushing batum to the bench and producing less than average. wow you just convinced me actually.

yes because YOU know exactly what trades were offered. good stuff.

Love the irony here. "We don't know exactly what was available, so Pritchard is stupid and cowardly for turning down these deals that I don't know the details of."
