Until real news happens I am just done

You all act surprised when I am salty and then try and call me out ( in terms of being surprised I get salty ) and such when I really have not said anything wrong. I gave my opinion on others opinions that I do not agree with and sure I use names but I try to keep the names PG and keep it within acceptable limits. Maybe snowflake is not even the right word I should have used I really am not sure. I only used that word cause it seems like some are so hurt that Tom is not a white hat and prolly not a Black hat ( bad guy ) but more of a grey hat someone who bends the law to get what he needs to get done. I am not saying it's right but that is rich people they ALL do it and I will say this again.

You all ( Tom haters whatever ) will not give a FUCK what he did to make his money if the Blazers start winning -- this is the truth and if you tell me it's not then your either your lying to yourself and/or being ingenuine -- period

I wish you all the best and maybe since I am so blunt you can only take so much before you need a break from me so consider this a break.

GO BLAZERS !!!!!
you keep saying you are done with this place...outta here...gonna start your own forum....ok then, bye

I never said I was leaving I said i was going to take a break and I never said my own forum please learn to read. Like 10 to 15 years ago I started my own Blazer blog etc and such never said it was going to be a forum.

I thought we were cool wiz but I guess not - it's been a long time since you and me got into it and I would prefer not to go down that road again. -- ball is in your court cause I can give as good as i take but again not looking for this type of bullshit.

Disagreements happen guys.
I've had em with pretty much everyone on here.
Wizenheimer a few times but we always agree to disagree.
In the end you both are really spirited Blazer fans. Just keep on being you.

Two things

1. I think we trade into draft doubt lottery more like trade with OKC to get their pick. Maybe trade our Orlando pick with them
2. I don’t believe Dundon will go cheap on coach, think way to much has been made of it. He’ll pay for the coach he wants, he likes winning to much to settle

Its just logic. If you believe hes a cheapass on the coach and you believe that rumor but then you dismiss that he wants to win as a rumor, then youre not to be taken seriously.

Theres a super cool thing where you wait until he actually does something instead of just rumors.

We actually have hope we finally wont be a shitty team after 5 years and people want to defend some honor of being a lottery team for almost the whole decade thus far.

This was said in general, not to you.

you might find this place is less aggravating if you didn't come in hot with attack-mode toggled on so often. I'm not implying, at all, I have virtuous posting behavior; I don't. Most posters are going to rub somebody the wrong way sometimes. But posters who seemingly get rubbed the wrong way all the time might consider reflection before reaction

Got one #3 pick and a #6. Not really that bad but probably could have been better yes.
You'd have to be incredibly lucky to do a championship level rebuild with a #3 and a #6.

We're Portland. That's just not a reasonable expectation, IMO .

Yeah I'm still in awe they tried to beat the Spurs (And did) at the end of the season a couple years ago. That was just stupid. Cost them pretty big.

???
Not sure what you're in awe about. In 2022, we lost to the Spurs 3 times in the last month of the season.
At the end of the 2023 season, we lost to the Spurs in March. We started John Butler, Eubanks, Nate Williams, Skyler Mays and Trendon Watford that game. We finished that season 5-20, so did an awful lot of tanking down the stretch there.
2024 we didn't play the Spurs down the stretch at all. We finished in a tie, and had shit lotto luck to drop us to 7th. We had 21 wins. S.A., with 22 wins jumped to #4
Just last season we beat S.A. down the stretch. Of course their master class of tanking had them playing CP3, Barnes, Vassel. We gave major run to Kris Murray, Dalano Blanton and the likes. Of course, the 39 win Dallas team won #2, so we should have tried to win 3 more games that year.

Here is a list of modern/new arenas without an NBA team: I think there is one in Vegas also. There are options for the new owner. Hate to think we are the next Seattle to O K C

  • T-Mobile Center (Kansas City, MO): Opened in 2007 but remains a top-tier modern arena that hosts major collegiate tournaments and was built specifically to attract an NBA or NHL team. [1]
  • Moody Center (Austin, TX): Opened in 2022 on the University of Texas campus, this world-class arena hosts massive concerts and UT basketball, filling the gap for a major indoor venue in a city without "big 4" pro sports. [1, 2]
  • CFG Bank Arena (Baltimore, MD): Recently underwent a massive renovation ($200M+) completed in 2023 to bring a modern, multi-purpose venue to the city. [1]
  • PeoplesBank Arena (Hartford, CT): Formerly the XL Center, this venue is currently undergoing a $145 million transformation, acting as a major entertainment hub in a market currently without major pro teams. [1]
  • CHI Health Center Omaha (Omaha, NE): While open since 2003, it is consistently upgraded and hosts major NCAA events, serving as the premier arena in a city with no NBA/NHL teams.
  • Van Andel Arena (Grand Rapids, MI): A modern venue in a large metro area that hosts AHL hockey but no NBA team. [1]
  • Toyota Arena (Ontario/Riverside, CA): A newer, modern arena in the Inland Empire (built 2008) catering to the Los Angeles-adjacent market. [1, 2, 3]

Haven't looked at how they got their numbers but this website is very sure relocation won't happen.

I've been saying it for years. The team is NOT moving.
But the "sky is falling" crowd here will continue to believe it and get their heart rate up about it. It's funny actually.

Yeah, spending that much money to relocate is a hell of a lot more than just paying to upgrade the arena himself.
He does not have an extra 2 billion lying around to pay the relocation fee. (without additional investors) Either way, relocating the team does not make sense if money is really his #1 priority. He would be better off selling his portion and picking up a quick billion in a few years.

Now, if the city and the fans really pissed him off, then I guess it could get personal....and all bets would be off. But that seems like a stretch.

The 2024-25 season the Blazers beat the spurs on April 6th and the Lakers on April 13th. The Blazers end the season with 36 wins and the Spurs end the season with 34. With a loss to both they would have been the lower seed.
The Spurs ended up with the 2nd pick and received Dylan Harper. The Blazers traded Cedric Coward Pick #11 to the Grizzlies.
Guess I did say a couple years ago as in this year is one year and last is 2 (Thus couple years). The Blazers have failed at everything for years. Even Tanking. Why continue to win 30+ games a season. It's stupid.

But it does seem like it’s more challenging. At least in Raleigh, it’s felt like maybe more of the essential people were rowing in the same direction than it feels in Portland. Tom Dundon: It seems like Portland’s more political. It’s more emotional. It’s a more emotional subject. North Carolina has a fund to bring sporting events to the state. There’s a lot of businesses moving in, they’re lowering their income tax. They’re doing a lot of things. They’re in a different place in terms of economic development. There was a different philosophy. When I first got (to Portland), it was (suggested) they need a new arena. And I looked at it and said, “Well, the only way they could do a new arena is if they raise taxes. And I don’t think they should raise taxes.” It would be counterintuitive to raise taxes in a place that, for us to be successful, we need the business climate to improve. We don’t want to be part of that problem. I think you know, but the Trail Blazers are last in sponsorship. That’s a big part of the controllable revenue for a basketball team. We’ve got to try to solve that business problem. You’ve got to have companies, companies have to thrive and want to grow, and we’ve got to help them grow by participating in our brand with these companies. If we did a new building and had to raise taxes to build it, we wouldn’t be part of that solution.

Tom Dundon on laying off 70+ Blazers employees: There were too many people, less layers gives more accountability

May. 25, 2026, 2:10 PM PDT
The one thing that is directly impactful was the reduction of staff, 70-plus people, last week. Why were such extensive layoffs necessary in your mind? Tom Dundon: They have twice as many people as we have in Carolina, and my experience is that less layers gives people more accountability and they do a better job. Then you know that you’re getting a great job done and you don’t end up in the situation where many companies end up, which is everyone’s looking around for somebody else to do it, complaining about what’s fair and not fair. I’ve seen the job done really well with a lot of accountability, no drama and a lot of, honestly, happiness. People are happier when they’re busy and productive. That is the way I think things should be done. And more people just creates more problems, usually. I think Portland just had too many people. I just asked them to look at it and I think they came to the same conclusion. We didn’t run a budget or give them a goal of headcount. We just said is this being done the right way? Is it efficient? Are people as committed and able to make an impact on the business every day? And if not, let’s get it right so we don’t have to talk about it again. This was mostly on the business side. The basketball, they’re two separate businesses. Taking care of the players is not… We don’t have a budget for that. It’s whatever it takes to put them in the best position to win. That’s what we’re going to do. The business I’m going to run like you run every other business.
