Okay, the party is over.

Just a refresher, we beat the Suns in game one of the playoffs in 2010. There are still at least three games go to here. Houston might win game two and carry some momentum into game three just like Phoenix did against us. That mindset we all had going into game one yesterday, is where we need to return to real soon. Blazers need to put in a lot of work. I'm guessing they're watching video today with no physical work outs.

Let's keep it up!!!
GO BLAZERS!!!

That was a much different team back then. Nate couldn't mid game adjust, nor had the capability to exploit Steve Nash guarding Batum.

But you are right... Just because you win game 1 on the road doesn't mean you win the series. You must be ready each and every game! Stay hungry!

You give no credit to coach Stotts and the rest of the team. Terry is the superior coach and even if Houston adjusts, so will he like he did for 48 mins last night. I could see your concern if Nate was coach.

It will be a great series. Win or lose.

Did you just hack Jason Quick's twitter account?

Don't forget: Last time Blazers opened playoffs with road win, 2010 in PHX, they lost series in 6. As Lillard reminds, still work to do.

Aw shit, I subconsciously copied Jason Quick?! GODDAMNIT! I still stand by the statements.

You raise a very good point! Let's hope Stotts can continue to out-coach McHale. I think that '10 team won on the shoulders of Roy isolation ball, which is what Houston has been playing with Harden to finish games. Let's hope McHale is as dense as McMillan!

Does it help when I tell you that you saying it is a bazillion times less annoying that JQ?

I don't think Mchalw is dense. But Terry I think is proven to be almost as smart as his old boss. Who knows maybe brighter.

Eh. It's only one game, but I saw enough to switch my vote from Rockets in 6 to Blazers in 6.

Better late then never!

There should be no party as it was only game 1 and the Rockets were ahead for a lot of that game

A lot of things for the Blazers to work on if they want to win the series

You are correct... If you look at the "game flow", Portland was playing catch up most the game. I am curious though how you would react if the shoe was on the other foot and we had the lead most the game, but lost in OT? Would you tell Houston fans they need a lot of things to work if they are gonna win the series? Or would you tell us, we are in good shape because we had the lead most the game?

God that suns series was awful... This is what I remember from it most.

God damn that was so bad.

We are due. We HAVE to be due. I mean, this doesn't happen to everyone right? Just typically us small market teams?

All I'm saying is I don't think the recipe to winning a playoff series is trailing by 10+ with 4 or so minutes to go in the 4th

I don't think anyone here would say the Blazers played their best game, which is actually a plus since they didn't play their best and still managed a victory

My point is despite winning game 1, the Blazers still need to work on things and play better if they want to win this series. If they play like they did last night for most of the series I don't think they'll win.

Well I've seen many champions win playoff series like how you mentioned. In fact, many have come back trailing by large deficits. A champion can win, even when it looks like you can't. Pretenders are those that blow big leads going into the 4th. So I disagree... I think that winning one on the road, being behind by as much as 13 in the 4th, being called for almost every call, etc. It shows poise and a "never give up" attitude.

I don't know, if LMA and Lillard played like that the rest of the series, I think we'd win.

Interesting point

At the same time, it took great games from both of them to barely squeak out a win in OT. James Harden shot 8-28 and the Rockets were still leading most of the game, and up big late in the 4th

Give a lot of credit to the Blazers for winning, but I just don't think they can play like they did last night and win the series.

That can be the same that's said about our players. Nic played passive, our outside shooting was dismal, our bench only scored 7, yet the rockets couldn't win.

As I said above, would this be the same message you send to Houston, because if we are using this same argument, Houston is in big trouble.

Houston uses that last victory of the regular season where they came from 17 down to win in OT as proof of their superiority. I guess in this circumstance, the knife only cuts one way.

Nic paying passive and the bench sucking are actually pretty normal traits for the Blazers. I don't think that means much.

Well not really. The bench averages more than 20 ppg. That's 13 below their season average. Batum was well below his average as well. And missing many freethrows, being the best free throw shooting team is telling as well.

Which is why I think that argument is shit. But what you do in the playoffs are much different than the regular season. You've been a fan for a long while, I'm sure you know this already.

They Blazers have the 30th ranked bench in the NBA in scoring. You saw that on display last night and it only gets harder for them in the playoffs.

I'm not sure what your point with Nic is anyways as he scored more than his season average

If there was a possibility to be 40th it still wouldn't matter. They were -13 of what they can get. That's the point. Add 13 points and it's a blow out. Add us hitting our season average in free throws and it's a easy win. Subtract Houston's free throw average and it's a blow out.

What I'm saying you can't use those stats of one game to decide the outcome of a series. It's a game by game performance. So far, we beat them. Let's see how they respond before we say how we are in for a tough ride. Pressure is 100% on Houston.

I just don't think it's a surprise the 30th ranked bench in the league only put up 7pts in a playoff game.

An already tight rotation is even tighter so I wouldn't expect the bench to do much. It's basically Mo or nothing.

Sure the Blazers could make more FTs or shoot better from 3, but they were actually better in those areas than Houston in game 1 amazingly enough.

I get you're playing devils advocate and trying to tell the other side, but the fact remains the Blazers must play better if they want to win the series. I don't think they'll win the series if they continue to play like they did last night, something you already "100% agreed!" with in another thread.

Pick a thought and stick with it!
