So iPod is dead - works only attached to computer since start/stop button jammed. I have long and elaborate playlists. I know how to download and save the music but it would take literally weeks of tedious work to recreated playlists from scratch. Is there a way to transfer playlist from old iPod to new? I googled but not helpful, mostly ads, and information on transferring music which I already know. Or in total tech speak.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

if the playlist is not in iTunes and the original device is no longer detected by iTunes or has completely failed, there is no way to recover the playlist. to my knowledge.

if the playlist is in iTunes just sync that motherfucker

Playlist is in ITunes, at least with iPod attached - how do I sync the old & new?

Thanks.

make sure your playlists are in iTunes standalone, and if not, sync the crappy one to your iTunes, then sync your new one and follow the link

Sorry, no luck. The link showed changing computers and I still don't know how to "sync" or how to get playlists in iTunes standalone. The instructions assume a lot.
