Every now & then I stop by the Reddit board just to check out the topics, to see some of the old ESPN crew & to throw in an occasional post. But Iv'e gotta tell you, that board has long stretches where you could here a pin drop. I mean 6-7 hrs with NO ONE creating a thread or even responding to an earlier post. Hell Iv'e seen days where there are MAYBE 4-5 posts for an entire day.

Now I don't know if anyone from that site ever creates a new SN just to check out things from this board. Or even just (using there own SN) stops by just to read some of the threads & posts over here. I'm kind of hoping that they do & that MAYBE a few of them will join us here. Because honestly with the exception of clowns like BSS, serk & ricky-spieal, I wouldn't mind having some of the old crew join us here.

I don't know any of there e-mail addresses because I'd love to drop them a PM just to let them know that they're welcome here. Hammer, vette, Major, I know you guys have posted over there so maybe one of you guys could drop someone over there a PM & make an offer just to stop by & check this site out. Mattingly23 did it & now he's hooked on this site. Just a thought.

Well weekends tend to be family time and it is ST. I would read too much into it. But I agree Rick, the more the merrier....or at least spicier.

It is like the old home here, tho' we do need to get Boz, Cougar, heck, I'd like to see Mick here, (tho he blew out of M1903 a long tme ago, with those child Mods, who banned us all). Where's Remember Munson?, and quit a few others from the old ESPN board, who are still out there.
Rick I'm sending you a PM on this one.

I don't believe Munson or boss wants to post any more... Not sure though... I haven't heard from the Mick in a very long time...

I don't know how much weight my voice would consider over there, plus I'm not a big fan of the idea of "poaching" posters from another board... I want to respect them... yeah, it would be cool if they were over here, but at the same time, I don't think it would be cool if they tried to come over and "steal" any of the regulars here... ya know?

Oh Steve don't get me wrong, I wouldn't suggest that you OPENLY recruit anyone from another site. I was just suggesting that you could send a PM to anyone there that you may have had a good repose with that you could just invite by to check us out, that's all. Just a soft sell. All done privately. No harm, no foul. Just an idea.

Steve I don't want you to do anything that may make you feel uncomfortable. Like I said, its just a thought. If it helps though, Look at it this way, you see a building on fire & the survivors have no place to go. So you're being a hero & offering them a new home.

...rick, I saw the thread title and thought this was about you. HA !

...seriously though, I think all we have to do to attract more posters is to do what we have been doing, which is to post as often as we can...energy builds energy and traffic builds traffic.

...I think hammer is right about "poaching", or whatever you want to call talking people from other sites into posting here. I mean we wouldn't like someone else coming here and doing the same thing to us by luring some of our posters away.

...people will post where the climate is good and the format is good and the topics are good...nothing wrong with letting others know about this forum, but like I said, I don't think we need to go out of our way to do anything other than what we've been doing. And there's nothing wrong with posting on multiple sites as long as it's not for the purpose of starting shit between boards...We have a nice rounded "core" here and it will grow with time.

I'm sure some more folks will find their way over here if the other boards are dead.

Thank you eagle eye, apparently you missed the part where I suggested he do it through a PM & NOT in the open forum. But what the hell maybe you guys are right. We've got a good thing going here & I've no doubt others will find there way here.

...no rick, I didn't miss it. Not at all. But I think trying to do something covert like that would only make us look desperate, which we're not.

...we're doing OK...like I said, I don't think we need to go out of our way.

Oh my! Rick, tell us what it was like watching the greats of the 'dead ball era' then some. Cy Young, Christy Matthewson, G.C. Alexander, Walter Big Train Johnson, S.Crawford, H. Wagner, P. Waner, T. Speaker, C. Anson, G. Sisler, R. Hornsby, L. Appling, F. Frisch, Ty Cobb and Shoeless Joe play.

I know you have great insight in the era. Grandpa (born in 1884) said he met you there in the stands, sitting alongside Connie Mack, Comiskey and Spalding. Grandpa showed me a old sepia picture of all 5 of you together.

I'd loved to of seen Ruth Pitch too! Your one Lucky Man, my friend...! :ghoti::lol:

I forgot, did you take dictation for Spalding with his infamous quotes? I know you did with Berra's Yogisms-

2= of Spaldings more memorable quotes, which have your name on the HOF bio, as stenographer:

"No human mind may measure the blessings conferred by the game of base ball on the soldiers of the Civil War. It had its earliest evolution when soldiers, North and South, were striving to forget their foes by cultivating, through this grand game, fraternal friendships with comrades in arms."

"Professional baseball is on the wane. Salaries must come down or the interest of the public must be increased in some way."

...Go Razorbacks !

My dad just got back into Arkansas a couple of hours ago... my grandfather lived there before he passed and while my dad was taking care of him in his decline (after my mom's passing) got involved with a great gal who lives there now... I don't get his infatuation with the razorbacks though...

I don't follow college football (no defense) Are the Razorbacks any good.

Yeah...don't make me go take hostages. Just tell those fuckers to post here or...well ya'll got imaginations.

I loved watching the Razorbacks, when Matt Jones was their Quarterback. His games were never ever boring.

Me, I love NCAA football as much as I love Hockey. I enjoy college football moreso than the NFL. Always have. College Football and Hockey are my secondary sports, which I enjoy equally.

I've been a Nick Saban Fan since he was with the Browns, then Michigan St. I was thrilled to see LSU win the 1st BCS Bowl, as well as the dynasty he has built at Alabama. The SEC RULES...!!!

Not that I am a Saban Homer, tho' Nick has seen more of his players go on to play in the NFL, than any other modern era college coach. That excludes Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno, Paul Bear Bryant, and Woody Hayes.

I can't stand Saban...
