speaking of which, what is the 'most excessive' speeding ticket you've ever had?

I got popped a lot of years ago for going 78 when the limit was 55. IIRC, the fine was around $250. That was a lot of money at the time. In my defense I was driving a friend's new Corvette and it sure seemed like I was going a normal speed. Sweet ride

on the other end of that, about 6 years ago I got a a ticket for doing 27 in a 25mph zone. I shit you not. Turner, Oregon. The fine was over $100. Chickenshit cop was about 20 years old

I understand the first one. But, a ticket for going two miles over the limit? Sounds like someone was trying to make a quota.

When I was 17 maybe, I got a ticket for going 110 in a, i think, 65 mph zone. It was in a '91 escort.

Turner cops are the WORST

wait, a Ford Escort? I didn't even think that was possible...that's only about 10mph under terminal velocity

My mom called a dealer to ask if it was even possible, hoping to get me out of the ticket! Speedometer needle was a little more than straight down.
I grew up in chicago, was coming back from iowa city with a couple of friends on I-80. Nothing but corn and a flying escort for miles around!

Well, and that pesky cop!

I got stopped for 120 in Wyoming but the cop said his shift was almost over and he didn't want to take me to jail. He said he had to take me because I had a Washington license. No reciprocity in 1993 at least.

He literally couldn't write me up and let me go or so he said.

I got a ticket in California for doing 90 in a 70.

SO its not speeding, but Sherwood tagged me for not coming to a complete stop with one of their cameras. I was making a right on a red and had to go to the damn bathroom. The light was yellow as I entered, red as I pulled through the turn. The photo even said the light was red for .07 seconds at the point I was rounding the corner. $265.00!!!!!!!!!!

I just paid it....If I had known we would have been in lock down, I would have requested a trial to have them drop it due to the inability to have a trial!!! LOL

My first ticket in 15 years.

I will say this though. With traffic being significantly less, Ive seen more people tailgating and passing illegally than ever, the few times i've been out and about and every day the radio is talking about rush hour accidents...

What is wrong with people??? No on is on the roads, no need to hurry and cut people off and stuff now.....but it still happens....

If they think the cops don't want their department quota, that is wrong.

Not a speeding story, but probably fits this thread enough...

I have always had a respect for police officers since I was a little kid. Ive grown up and realized that they are human and not all are good and not all are evil, like most sects of humans in general, but I cant help to remember and will never forget the time my mother was pulled over with me in the backseat. Seat belts weren't a law yet, but strongly recommended.
My mother was on her way to .. I dunno, she was whacked out on drugs and alcohol back then, but she got pulled over. No license. NO insurance.Ill never forget his face as he shined the flashlight on me in the backseat, asked my mother for her license and said she w going 15 over the limit. I think she said she had to get to the store for medical supplies or something? irrelevant.

After looking back at me several times, he then went back to his squad car for a few minutes and came back. My mother was crying and telling me everything will be okay, but they may take me away for a while.
The officer came back with a pamphlet in his hand and told my mother if she promised to read the pamphlet to me he would let her go without a ticket.

She took me home and read it to me that night. It was a children's book on the importance of wearing your seat belt.

I will always give officers the benefit of the doubt and consider them innocent until proven guilty( there are some seriously guilty as sin evil ones out here) based on my childhood experience and the fact that I know not everyone is bad and its an individual thing.

Seriously!! There is plenty of room to get over as the law requires, slower traffic keep right! What is wrong with people clogging up the fast lane making us have to go around.

PS: remind me to tell you the story of being verbally abused by a cop for speading right by your house! Officer didn't appreciate the blonde in the passenger seat laughing at him. :)

Why you speeding down my street bro? LOL.

A. Twenty years ago it wasn't. B. Few hundred yards it opens up into a "country road."

HAHA. I was gonna say, I didn't consider Jackie a blonde, so I was kinda wondering who you were referring to, but wasn't gonna paint ya in a corner. :)

Cops patrol the corner of the church regularly. Now that i've been working from home, i've noticed.

Where and when in California? You can't drive less than 90 in a 70MPH zone here, you will get a ticket for obstructing traffic.
1967 I got a ticket at one of the road checks in the Santa Cruz Mountains for being to low to the ground in my 56 Chevy. If I had been in Bakersfield I doubt I would have been ticketed.

When I was building my second custom van back in the 70's my dad and I built (80% my dad) a nice potent 351 Windsor engine that had a fairly radical cam, a rare factory aluminum single plane aluminum manifold and a holley carb along with some headers. I was eventually going to run side pipes but when first installed I just installed a couple of turbo mufflers with no end pipe and that sucker would shake buildings when it was idling. Well shortly after the installation was done I was driving through the Hollywood district and a cop pulls me over and tells me my vehicle was making excess noise. I admit, it was a bit obnoxious with the pipes reverbarating under that van body. He just issued me a warning and told me to get my exhaust fixed. That was a mean little engine but being in a van didn't do it justice as there was zero aerodynamics in a van. If it was in a Mustang it would have been a pretty mean machine.

lol, you're not going to believe this but I was the first employee to work for Sassi Chassi as Kelly, his girlfriend and I were the only employees when we first started out. My dad was good friends with Myles (who was Kelly's dad) and financed it. Our shop was in the Johns Landing area and a good friend of mine had the shop right below where they did custom painting and hand painted signs.

Kelly Thiberg....lol

Kelly Thiberg....lol

yep. Did you know his dad? I remember hearing he was sick and then when I worked with my dad out at the Portland Car Swap Meet many moons ago he came by our booth and he was a shell of himself and shortly after passed away. Do you know what Kelly is up to now days? I haven't seen him in about 35-40 years as I left there to go to work for Rose City Upholstery and then went on to the company I worked at for around 28 years.

Neither of you guys will believe this amazing coincidence: Sassi Chassi is a company I've never heard of!
