Asshat of the night award.....Common for dropping another Ferguson reference you dumb fucking negro.

Patricia Arquett for griping about equal pay for women.

Director of Birdman for his immigration references.

And lastly to the Academy for snubbing Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper and American Sniper.

...yeah, I watched about 15 minutes of it...and was turned off by the crying blacks and other on their political soap boxes...so I traded in my remote for my bed.

The show was absolutely unwatchable. It wasn't funny or entertaining. I'm tired of a host trying to bring something to the show and the actors in the audience acting like statues. It's a ridiculous back patting fest for the Hollywood elite and should be shit canned. Nobody cares who wins anymore. To me it's meaningless

...^^^not only that, but since when did actors/producers etc., become the oracles of what's right and what's wrong?...they've gotten completely away from what the Academy Awards is supposed to be about.
...I wanted to throw something at the TV when the one guy harped on the "still existing struggle" of black civil rights and that there were more "incarcerated blacks in US prisons than there were slaves in the 1850's"...didn't throw anything at the TV, so I just turned it off instead.

That's much better than having a broken television. I gave the show a chance and then just had to turn it off. The political messages should be banned. Not as a matter of squashing free speech but as a matter of using somebody elses stage for your own personal agenda.

I came across this comment on it which I totally agree with.

I vote worst moment was back in 1927 when it was decided that the Hollywood movie industry decided to stage an awards ceremony in a fit of self-congratulation. That decision has lead to annual fits of self-congratulation for a movie industry that is not the largest, nor the most prolific, nor even the best in the world, to which the rest of the world has been subjected to ever since.

I'm also not a fan of these multi millionaires injecting there personal opinions into an awards show. And the song Glory would have been fine with just the very talented John Legend performing it alone. With this no talent pecker-head Common doing his shit rap it only turned the performance & its meaning into a protest song.

I watched the entire show, much of which I could have done with out. This 3 1/2 snooze fest could have been reduced to 2 hours without all the nonsense. And yes how the #1 grossing film of 2014 & the all time grossing war movie was completely shut out is ridiculous. And for Eastward to not even get a nomination for directing was a joke.

Hollywood is so far to the left that Eastwood and a war movie wasn't going to get much attention by the academy.

...I think I'd rather just have them post the nominees and winners...no need for the political crap or the need to show what female is wearing what gown.

Years ago the show was much better. Now it's just hours and hours of complete garbage. Plus, these clowns take themselves way too seriously. You're not in a trauma ward saving lives. You're making a movie.

Well then I guess in retrospect perhaps slavery wasn't that bad....following his line of reasoning. Maybe its my profession and the fact that the blacks I know are highly educated/accomplished....but this sort of thing makes them cringe.

...yup...I just wished they'd speak out about it...but you know how it goes, if they do speak out they're vilified and labeled "an Uncle Tom".

AS was a soldiers story more than anything else. Can't take away from the other top films, some good stuff out there this year. The other war film that was panned was Fury.

Fury hold a special place for me because my grandfather was in a mechanized infantry division with their own armor in WWII. He also started in North Africa and went until VE Day when he was in southern Germany.

...yeah, I just see no need to take 3+ hours to do something that could just as easily be condensed into 1/2 hour. There are people who complain that Baseball games need to be speeded up but it's OK for the Oscars to be unnecessarily long.

Lady GAGA singing was the highlight for me.

...although I'm not a follower of hers, I was surprised by her voice last night...she did a pretty damn good job.

Right from the beginning prior to the telecast when guys like Sharpton was causing an uproar that no black actors were nominated this year I knew someone would make it political. In this case it was the host who I happen to like & is very talented when he said (taking a stab at humor) "Tonight we honor Hollywood's best & whitest, I mean brightest stars". How quickly they forget that last year 12 years a slave was nominated for 9 academy awards & even took the #1 prize of best picture. I guess unless this is a yearly occurrence the race card gets played. Its a damn shame that after 50 fucking years this kind of shit is still being kept alive.

Checked the net worth of Patricia Arquett finding it to be 24 million dollars. Pretty damn nice salaries she's been getting. This crap of actors learning and reciting lines applicable to movie scripts does not make the "experts" on all aspects Americana. I am not now nor have I ever been a huge movie buff and if I write what I really felt about the "Hollywood Elite" I'd be banned from this board.

This is not the ESPN board feel free to speak your mind.

Really does pain me somewhat when "we", I feel the need to comment on this issue of "black men being incarcerated at a much higher rate than whites".

There is no doubt there are plenty of white men currently incarcerated as they do represent the larger majority race in the country but the ugly truth the reason why such a larger disproportionate number of black men/youths are incarcerated by all accounts including state and federal agencies is although they represent 15-20 of the population they account for at least 65-80 % of various violent crime from murder, rape, random gun shootings, assaults and murder of cops, vicious muggings assaults and beatings of the ederly....widespread barbarism.

Sure there are some wrongly convicted people who are incarcerated....but if you look at the ratios and overwhelming numbers of those arrested and/or convicted, .....it is an unfortunate unfair by product.

I'm not quite sure I'm following what your point is here.

...the disproportionate ratio of blacks in prison is not an accident, or a plot, or a case of the white man keeping the black man down. The Civil Rights Bill is 50 years old now, yet still the race war continues...unnecessarily, but it's still there...and unfortunately it is still being used as a crutch by some.

Unfortunately, By MANY.

Great Points by all aforementioned......

I too turned the TV off, within 20 minutes of seeing too much Bull Shit.....

I expected, and sounds like we got it: another Year much like the Sidney Poitier Lifetime Achievement Award year, when Denzel Washington, and Halle Berry both won, Best Actor and Actress......

When we see Kanye West Host the Academy Awards, we then know, the show belong strictly on the BET Channel.....

tho' it sounds like it already should be on BET, and I bet Kanye as a Host is but a year or 2 away.....

American Sniper was one of the best movies I've seen in a year, and for a snub, that's preposterous....!
