I'm not from the Portland area, but I know there's no local NFL team. Here in Vegas, people follow the Chargers and the Raiders it seems. Who do you guys follow?

Anyone interested in doing a game thread this weekend?

I'm a 49ers fan (grew up in the Bay Area) and a Chargers fan (went to university in San Diego).

Much bigger fan of the 49ers, though.

Shapecity is a 49ers fan. He'd be up for it, I bet.

Any others?

I'm an NFL fan but no specific team. Seahawks are the closest NFL team but never really liked them. I use to be a 49er fan when Montana and Young were their QB's because it was my son's favorite team. I played in a lot of fantasy football leagues for years which sort of keep me from being a fan of any one team.

Minstrel, are you looking forward to week 12? I am.

YOu watch the games on Sunday? we could do a generic sunday games thread as well.

I would be, if the 49ers had an offense. :/

Martz!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I saw O'Sullivans numbers last week and they looked pretty solid. What's your honest opinion on him/QB situation in San Fran? Its been forever since I've talked to a 49ers fan.

You a Huskies fan? I hate the Huskies of coarse being a huge Duck fan. I have had season tickets to the Ducks for years. I even hate the Huskies a lot more then the Beavers. The Huskies being so bad lately has taken a lot away from the games against them though.

Now if only we had Bruce in his prime, and Torry Holt.

JTO looked very good last week, but was ineffective in week 1. He has good poise and mobility, but he doesn't have a great deep ball. With a solid offensive line and better wide receivers, I think he could emerge as a good starting quarterback. He had better because Alex Smith is a solid bust.

I'm a degenerate Redskins fan, and have been for most of my life. They used to bring me such joy, then Dan Snyder bought the team.

I'm screwed.

Actually I'm not a fan of college football much. I was just wondering if a local college team was the big thing for football fans up there. I picked the wrong college, obviously :)

Here in Vegas, UNLV is pretty big, though the summer league and FIFA and a couple of exhibition NBA games are good. We also have a minor league hockey team. They don't play games outdoors!

You better perk up some; Cowboys-Redskins is week 4. I want an epic trash talk thread for that

Hey Min, what's going on with Manny Lawson?

Hey Min, what's going on with Manny Lawson?

He played okay in Week 1. Not spectacularly, but solid. For some reason, he didn't start in Week 2, supposedly as a part of the scheme against Seattle. He asked to play on special teams, at least, and he made two tackles and blocked a punt. He's extremely athletic and I think he's quite talented, so I expect him to be starting again in Week 3.

Do you run a 3-4, a 4-3, or both?

Both. Nolan calls it a "hybrid 3-4," because they shift the linebackers around a lot. Justin Smith was brought in because the 49ers believe that he's mobile enough to be an effective linebacker when they go 3-4 as well as a down lineman in the 4-3.

niners fan till the death here. id love to talk some niners with whomever, lets get it going!

btw i think alex smith got a bum rap, he changed offensive coordinators every year, and was injured alot. the players really liked playing with him though, he was a grinder. its sad to see him go. i really think we can win the division this year though.

I was raised by Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fanatics. The Bears always disappointed me as they were always pretty bad in my youth and never did anything (and still haven't) about their quarterback issues. However, I was always a fan of Mike Ditka and when he went to New Orleans during my middle school years I decided to become a Saints fan (don't ask me why). They've always stuck with me, I remember being up at Government Camp skiing with my cousins from St. Louis and watching them beat the Rams in their first ever playoff win and I was pumped. They have a potent offense, but need a defense to ever really have a chance as a Superbowl contender.

I'm more of a college football fan though and I've been a Ducks fan since the Danny O'Neil days. That Rose Bowl against Penn St. still breaks my heart.

Seems like we have some 49ers fans around. You, Minstrel, and shape for sure.

Tell you what; I'll get some 49er discussions going later. I'm about ready to head off to class...

I'm a Patriots fan, just so ya'll know. ;)

And I support the Raiders from time to time.
