I don't know how many of you guys collect sports memorabilia, but I need to know the value of something. I got a pair of signed Greg Oden shoes for my sons school auction. Not game worn, new in the box. We are filling out the paperwork and they asked the value of the object. Shit, the shoes alone are $150. Anybody got an idea?

ill send u 5 paypal right now. forget about the auction

Come on you dorks! I need a serious answer. My wife already thinks I'm a dork for always being on here with you guys. This is a great oppurtunity for you all to get on the good side of MRS. HCP! Help!

Do you get to write off the value as a charitable donation on your tax return? If not, it doesn't matter. I would put the market value at about $200-250.

This might help.

Never mind . . . I thought you were wondering how to get the most out of it.

If filling out a form, I would put priceless.

there is no "official" value so just make something reasonable up. $200-250 is reasonable.

If it's for a school, then the funds are going to a non-profit organization, meaning that the difference between the price paid and the actual value is deductible by whomever purchases the item, which is why the actual value is needed.

I'd probably mark them no lower than $250. His more rare autographed sports cards go for between $100-400 depending on the brand, style, and rarity. You can get more available, cheaper cards that are autographed, but these are shoes.

Ah ha! I didn't realize that. Thanks for the info!

those are certified autographed serial-numbered rookie cards. a piece of random autographed memorabilia without a COA is worth whatever anyone will pay. put those shoes on ebay and you'd be lucky to get $50.

I won't write it off since it was a gift from Greg and the team. I'm just the middle man. Size 19's. They are personalized with his name on the tongue. And cool designs etched on the side. Like a couple buildings from downtown, roses and other stuff. Pretty cool. Thanks for your help.

some of the player exclusives going for $500+. Being that they're signed, they should be worth more.

Kobe's are $2500: http://osneaker.com/nike-zoom-hyperdunk-kobe-bryant-pe-player-exclusive-home-white.html

hmmm...those don't seem like the made for player shoes though.....

These are individually made, with extra support and customization for the players. Quite the rare treat. I'd probably pay upwards of $400 and I'm not even a serious collector. I'd go $500+.

Since its an auction that kind of stuff goes for a little higher in price.

I would think you would want to start at $200 and in the end get $300-350

I would start at 250 but I would think they would be worth closer to $500.

the shoes being custom, i think they alone would go for over 250 to a collector. i would say 500 is a fairly low estimate.

Getting on the good side of Mrs. HCP, hmmmmmmm............ As a wise man once said to me "Talk about setting yourself up! You just teed it up for me and said here Daddy, have your way with me!"

I don't think they'll sell for more than $300. Remember, this is a school auction. People with kids in school don't usually have a lot of free cash to throw around!

I get to see lots of her good side when you are out of town! :ghoti::devilwink::lol:

My guess would be about $250-$300.
Roy's would probably be worth $500-$600.

i say they sell for...

1250 dollars.

anyone else?

I'm going to guess $250

Without any certificate of authenticity, I think it will auction off more as a novelty item

(And I think they start the bidding low and generate some bids and excitement over it . . . when and where is the auction)

Edit: I'll go with $200 since BB already said $250

How ironic! Since I used to stick it to your woman back in college!
