I think the Heat are the team best positioned to score big in Free Agency next summer. They are very likely to re-sign D Wade and I think they'll lure at least one top tier free agent to join him. I personally think it's the No. 1 destination for LeBron. And don't be surprised if Pat Riley finds a way to wiggle enough space (using Beasley as sign-and-trade bait) to get BOTH 'Bron and Bosh in Miami.

It's crazy to imagine 'Bron and Bosh together. That's a scary duo. We have a few expiring deals (Outlaw, Blake), foreign prospects, and picks to throw at 'em for Beasley. If you can grab a talent on the cheap you should do it. Even if he is a bit of a risk off the court.

Beasley is a thug, I highly doubt KP would ever consider him.

Well THAT, and it says use him in a sign and trade. They don't want to dump him during the regular season. Especially when they are playing well. They would move him to Toronto or Cleveland. Not to us randomly now.

What does "thug" mean? Does it mean he has a substance abuse problem or does it mean that he beats women and steals from the homeless? I reckon he might just have a substance abuse problem, which under the right care can be dealt with much easier than someone who is a sociopathic "thug".

Curiously, thug may have a common root with stegosaurus.

thug
1810, "member of a gang of murderers and robbers in India who strangled their victims," from Marathi thag, thak "cheat, swindler," Hindi thag, perhaps from Skt. sthaga-s "cunning, fraudulent," possibly from sthagayati "(he) covers, conceals," from PIE base *(s)teg- "cover" (see stegosaurus). Transferred sense of "ruffian, cutthroat" first recorded 1839. The more correct Indian name is phanseegur, and the activity was described in Eng. as far back as c.1665. Rigorously prosecuted by the British from 1831, they were driven from existence, but the process extended over the rest of the 19c.

That and the fact he is a tweener IMO.

Plus he has an incredibly high usage rate with a much lower PER. He was at 27.7 last year with a PER of 17.2. He's at 22.8 this year with a PER of 12.9.

An extremely overrated player who needs the ball a lot to be marginally effective. Plus, he doesn't play defense. No thanks.

Thanks for that. I do wonder now if it's more appropriate to call Beasley a phanseegur. He seems to be nothing more than a covert strangler.

Wow I just looked at the salaries and Miami has a ton of cap space this summer. If they can pursued Wade to stay, if they bring in a player like LJ, both would put about a 38-40 mil dent in their salary. You add Beasly's 5 mil, some of the 1st and second rounder's salaries, and they still have around 10 mil of income to find role players to build around those three. As crazy as it seems, it could happen.

You can call Beasley whatever fancies you, I couldn't care less. But I see a guy who's already had several off the court issues come up while in College and the NBA...and he's only 20. Not the kind of guy I want on the Blazers, and I doubt KP would want a guy like him either.
