Heard on the radio this morning (sorry, no link)...

Boston is close to making a trade with Washington that would send Ray Allen and his $23 million expiring contract, along with Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens to Washington for Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. If that happened, it would certainly shake things up in the East.

I heard a David Stern blow job is also part of the deal...

see this is exactly why you cant defend kpee...

all the wizards want is expiring deals. thats b.s. they are holding out for a young talent. outlaw, blake, and picks should work. its kpee being a bitch. if the wiz would rather have allen then outlaw then they are dumb. at least outlaw has a little upside. allen is on the downside of his career....major downside.

He also has major star power and represents major cap relief.

What young talent is Boston giving WAS? JR Giddens?

It has to make one wonder.....Either this rumour is full of crap or this deal happen, then either Pritchard is reluctant to deal Outlaw & Blake or other GM's are holding POR hostage, and I would have to wonder why that is so, maybe b\c he isn't well liked? If so, that is real negative on Pritchard...

so the wizards wanna make the celtics better??? bullshit. they are in the same division lol.

its more kpee not knowing how to trade then teams holding us hostage. its kpee plain and simple.

I see Mixum still does not understand that 23 million expiring is greater than 7 million. Basic mathematics were once valued in this country god damnit!

nah i understand.... but i just think kpee couldnt make a deal to save his life

That might be true, but that's mostly unrelated to this particular circumstance. Travis + Blake and some other young serviceable talent isn't nearly as valuable as the massive cap relief the Boston deal offers them. Put it this way, would you rather have Rudy or Bayless and no cap space for the summer, or would you rather have no young players and the chance at one of this summer's max free agents?

Fuck that. It can't happen

Wow.... speechless (I fucking hate KG's Celtics)

I still think Detroit should send Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince to Boston. Then it would be like a Pistons reunion!

the $23 vs $7 million is there but it can be worked around...POR could throw in Przybilla & $3 million for example...Joel COULD potentially opt out this year (player option) and if not POR has $3 million to offset that last year...It is not unconceivable...

With his future in jeopardy why would Joel throw away 7 million in guaranteed money when it's possible he could never return to form?

Depends on the injury....personally I don't think his career or in jeopardy as a result of this injury.....

Good big men are hard to find in this league, Joel has proven he is starting caliber center that stil has some juice left....

That being said, he could certainly decide to be prudent and not opt out until he can play and prove he is back healthy.....

I am sure POR would look to pick him up if he opted out.....

That's pretty scary...

Rondo
Butler
Pierce
Jamison
KG

I think they would probably use Jamison in a super sub role.. they already are mediocre at rebounding.. I cant imagine they would bring Porky off the bench. But still.. scary yes.

Put yourself in Joel's shoes (and his agent's and his wife's) opting out makes him a free agent, but what team would offer him a bigger longer term deal when he's unable to run and jump? At best some team might offer him a one or two year deal, partially guaranteed because they wouldn't want to risk a long term salary commitment for a guy who might never return to form. Joel would be far wiser to take his gauranteed money, rehab, play next season and prove that he can play and then go out and get paid.

Well I sure hope that doesn't happen. The one thing I look at is, they are depending on Butler to play SG at that point, so they better hope that works. They could end up with a great front line and no outside shooting fromt he guards, which would allow teams to double off of them, and effectivly negate the advantage on the front line somewhat. But you can't double them all...and all of them know how to play..

Yeah, sorry, there's no way Joel is optiong out now. Before his injury I thought it was a pretty big possibility but blowing his patella tendon and dislocating the kneecap at his age makes it pretty obvious he wont opt out this summer. He'll take his 7 million next year, go out and try to show it hasn't affected his ability, and then sign a new contract in 2011 pending the lockout. He will not leave 7 million on the table now.

Jamison and Butler added to Rondo, Pierce, Sheed, and Garnett?

How many basketballs do the Celtics think they are allowed on the court at any given time? Sounds like a potential disaster in terms of oncourt chemistry, doesn't it?

Butler takes Ray Allen's spot in the offense, and Jamison probably moves Sheed down a peg in the pecking order. Frankly, I think this helps them rotate their bigs and limit their minutes in preparation of a playoff run.

Besides, chemistry and PT isn't as much of an issue for guys in their thirties who aren't playing for their next contract, but are presumably only focused on going out on top before their careers end.

At least Memphis got Marc Gasol as part of the Pau deal.

This is just highway robbery.

Isn't it weird that the Lakers and Boston tend to be on the good end of so many one sided deals?

I don't know how they do it.
