OT: Brittney Griner Dunks Twice in WNBA Game

I didn't call her a guy or an 'it'. Did anybody call her an 'it' in this thread? I do think she looks a bit like Tayshaun Prince in terms of body, though, and that 2-handed dunk was impressive. Maybe next time, you should directly address those who you meant with you post. Since I started the thread, I assumed you were addressing me.

It was like Tayshaun Prince with a deeper voice going extra on a dunk.

After HCP in post #2 called her an it, you may be able to understand the ease with which one confuses your it with HCP's type of it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but seriously, even I thought you were calling her an it.

Did I say you did?

Um yeah, HCP did in the very first response to your original post.

HCP said:
That dude is good! 2 dunks in the history of the league and she......errrr........IT gets 2 in one damn game!

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions. Did I quote you in my original post? No, I didn't. If I didn't quote you and you didn't refer to Griner as "he" or "it" why would you assume I was addressing you?

My only response to you was in reference to your flippant double standard comment comparing making fun of the sound of someone's voice to questioning their gender. In order to understand the full context of my response, you need to go back and re-read my entire original post - not just the part you quoted. My beef in general, is not with you. It's with people calling Griner "he" or "it". That's cold and insensitive and it's NOT the same as making fun of the sound of someone's voice.

Actually, I didn't think PapaG called her an it. My original comment didn't quote him and wasn't directed at him. Several people referred to Griner as "he", "him", "that dude", "that guy" and even "it". Rather than quote them all, my original post was directed at them collectively.

My only response to PapaG was questioning his double standard comment with regard to Mike Tyson's voice.

Holy shit. She has a deeper voice than BRoy

Kathleen Turner has always had a very deep, husky voice, but she was totally hot back in the day (think Body Heat, not Californication). In addition to Mike Tyson, Chris Tucker has the highest pitched voice I have ever heard from a guy.

This isn't directed at you specifically, just pointing out that the tone of someone's voice isn't necessarily a function of their gender. There are totally hot, very feminine women with deep voices and macho, tough guys with high pitched voices.

Why are you making fun of Kathleen Turner's voice?

i have a female friend who does the same thing, dresses in mens clothes, has a short, mens haircut, talks and acts like a man...very much a female, and strangely enough, i have never wondered loudly if she had a cock (although that would be hot as fuck)

I'm sitting here in my tight little red miniskirt and I am so helpless! I don't know whether to wiggle my fanny to the left or to the right!

Damn, NOW after 5 years, everybody gets all sensitive? What happened to this place. I guess I'm wrong........ i guess she doesn't talk like a man or looks like a man or dunks the basketball or talks a man. I don't know where I came up with those crazy notions. Must be that I'm, what was it "threatened"? I call it like I see it, sorry. She looks like Austin Daye or Tayshean Prince. If there was a guy who looked and acted like the black guy from Revenge of the Nerds playing in the NBA, I'd call him out to.

She doesn't look like a man. And as for the deep voice:

Some angles she looks like a real girl.

Most she looks like a tranny.

Weird.

She looks very pretty in that photo. Regardless of her attractiveness, she's revolutionizing women's basketball and deserves a little more respect that what's been given by some in this thread. I wish her the best.

It's ironic when about 4 paternalistic males in this thread who are about 5-11, protect a 6-8 female athlete with their stupid chivalry. She can take care of herself. She is no shrinking violet. Treat her like a man. You wouldn't be protecting a man from ridicule. You sure haven't in the past.

You're friends with Rachel Maddow?

Whew! I thought you might be talking about me, but I'm 6'4", not 5'11". I'm also not protecting her, you're right, she can protect herself. I'm supporting her.
