UGHHH! Forgot there was a team under the cap. That was the only deal that would've given Denver more financial relief than the one I proposed.

What the hell does this mean for Kamen? Is one of them going to be a PF?

Yes. Camby.

Maybe they will trade Camby, though.

Only slightly more than KVH and filler though. This is a huge disappointment.

This is what happens when you have too much asset and not enough bread..... Melo to Detroit!!

this is basketball,no one knows what will happend tomorrow。

I would have accepted a Camby trade if it happened, but, in the wake of the Najera signing, I'm very glad it's a no go. I don't want another vet taking that many minutes from the young bigs.

ARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!111111

Dreams, hope getting crushed.

I'm hating this ****'n off-season.

I'm guessing wrinkles.

Stein is wrong on Camby's contract number

Marcus has made lucrative bonuses the last two seasons for playing so many games. His salary is much closer to 20 million than 15 million.

Denver is thinking that Camby is going to break any minute and that they wanted to not pay as much in Luxury taxes.

Kiki's reaction:

Camby for what?!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Denver is thinking that Camby is going to break any minute and that they wanted to not pay as much in Luxury taxes</div>

right, but as far as the teams goal of winning a championship goes...WTF were they thinking?

Funny thing about Kiki. He fired my HS basketball coach, Jeff Bzdelik, because he wanted a more upbeat kind of offensive system. A couple years later, Melo's looking one dimensional and Kiki's with the Nets.

Not sure if he's learned his lesson. If he has, then he'd probably like to have gotten Camby. If he's still got the same philosophy he had in Denver, he could care less.

That and you have bigs now.

my guess is rod is thinking guard or combo guard right about now. Well at least the clips covered their tail a little bit.

Stan told the FO last season that unless they win a championship, he isn't paying as much in luxury taxes for 2008-2009

Clippers get F Camby
Tuesday, July 15, 2008 10:28 PM

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday acquired forward Marcus Camby from the Denver Nuggets.

In exchange, the Nuggets will have the option of swapping second-round picks in 2010. As a result of the deal, Denver receives a $10 million trade exception, which can be used until one year from the completion of the trade.

"Marcus has been an exceptional representative of the Nuggets both on the court and in the Denver community during his time here, and we are greatly appreciative of all he has done," Denver vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien said. "This trade exception, along with the future first-round draft choice we received from Charlotte last month, gives us a number of options and a tremendous amount of flexibility."

Camby is considered one of the top defensive players in the league, becoming just the second player in NBA history to lead the league in blocked shots three consecutive seasons.

A former Defensive Player of the Year, Camby led the NBA with 3.61 blocks per game last season.

"I love this acquisition for the current makeup of our team," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We are getting a consummate pro who is maybe the best team defender in the league and who has 60 playoff games under his belt."

Camby set a slew of personal bests last season, averaging career highs of 13.1 rebounds and 34.9 minutes in 79 games - also a career high. Camby also averaged 9.1 points and had a league-best 18.0 rebounds per contest.

"I think this is a very good addition for us, especially since we're getting a player who can really help us without having to give up a player in return," Clippers vice president of basketball operations Elgin Baylor said. "Marcus can play multiple positions and is one of the better rebounders and shot-blockers in the league.

"With him playing alongside (Chris) Kaman, I think we will have a pair of excellent interior defenders, and that will make us a formidable team."

The addition likely was in response to losing long-time power forward Elton Brand to the Philadelphia 76ers via free agency a week ago.

Drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the second overall selection in 1996, Camby spent the past six seasons in Denver after four campaigns with the New York Knicks.

Camby has appeared in 60 playoff games in his career, averaging 8.6 points and 8.8 rebounds.

The Nuggets obviously did this for financial reasons but couldn't the Nets have offered them that as well?

If they traded Van Horn and what ever filler for Camby then the Nuggets could have saved some money there. Then the Nets could have used their trade exception to take Chucky Atkins off the Nuggets payroll right? It works in the trade checker. So that's more savings right there. Not as much as losing all of Camby's salary but a pretty fair amount of it. They could have also probably got something more than a future 2nd rounder.

wow, so basically they can trade for 10 million in salary without giving anything up?

Yes they can and they have a year to do it.

So they could try to trade for Artest again but not have to match salaries.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dark Defender @ Jul 15 2008, 10:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I wonder if the Denver FO is dumb enough to trade for Zach Randolph.</div>

1/3 of the three headed monster is, but the other 2 don't want Zach.

I can't tell if this is a really, really good deal or a terrible deal.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Simmons to the Nuggets for the 10 million dollar trade exception!
