The Cleveland Cavaliers are offering Andrew Bynum a two-year, $24 million deal with incentives.

The Cavaliers are pushing for a decision from Bynum after meeting with him on Monday.

The deal would include a team option on the second season.

The incentives would be easily reachable such as completing training camp and playing in a certain number of games.

The Cavaliers could use Bynum in their anticipated pitch in 2014 to LeBron James.

I'd assume that the cap room necessary would come from Bynum being a restricted Free Agent next season. I'm just spitballing on this, but it seems like they might be able to sign LeBron and then exercise Bynum's option... meaning a kick to the pocket but something that the CBA permits.

What do ya'll make of this?

We'd potentially be looking at Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, and Andrew Bynum on the same team.

I'd also imagine that they'd shop Anderson Varejao or Tristan Thompson if they signed Bynum. I can't imagine they'd logjam their frontcourt with Bynum, Varejao, and Thompson, when they drafted an undersized PF #1 overall.

With luck, the half of the season that Bynum (at a most optimistic estimate) is healthy would be the half of the season (ditto) that Varejao is out.

I have to admit I very surprised that some is going to Bynum that kind of money without a workout. I guess I should know better but for a team like the Cavs that could be on the rise it would suck to see it become a setback. On the flip side most teams have to take some sort of chance to compete with big boys

The no workout thing doesn't bug me as much as his seemingly apathetic attitude about bball. Dude has historically been a slow healer and I think it's because he doesn't work hard. But that $ seems in line with most other contracts for starting Cs.

All I can say is that it pays to be seven feet tall.

What do you think Varejao would net on the open market?

14.1 ppg, 14.4 rpg before he got injured... was a shoe-in for the All-Star game

If they make this move, they've got to have some info on Varejao's status that we don't know, because he was really starting to come into his own.

Usually a team with a 6'11" center that can post back-to-back 20/18/3 nights shouldn't be looking for a replacement.

Varajao has a lot of flaws in his game and his age(30)/injury history are something to be very very weary of. He is an amazing hustle guy but isn't an elite defense player, he is good but not elite, and isn't a real threat on offense. He can score if you get him the ball in the deep post and has a bit of range on his shot but he doesn't have a lot of offensive versatility.
I don't think he would be huge offers but Splitter type money is what I would think. 3/4 years at 8 to 9 a year.
