Phoenix Suns center Channing Frye has been selected for the All-Star Weekend's 3-point Shootout in Arlington, Texas, according to a report in The Arizona Republic.

Frye would become the first center to compete in the 3-point contest since Seattle's Sam Perkins, a forward-center, in 1997.

Frye, who ranks second in the NBA with 114 3-pointers made, is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc, which is seventh-best in the league.

Frye joined the Suns as a free agent this season, his fifth in the league, after two seasons with both the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers.

I hope he wins! Chan is one cool ass dude!

I hope he wins also. He seems like a real down to earth and nice guy.

Has anyone ever been in both the slam dunk contest and three-point contest in the same All Star weekend? That would be fun, especially if that player won both.

I am not sure but didnt Brent Berry do that?

Rudy should have been last year.

I'd like to see Channing win it, but he won't. He's a choker.

Calm down big guy. Remember the breathing exercises I taught you. They are just voices, they don't control you.

You're crazy! That doesn't bug me. I was just making fun of whoever did that last week!

Martell Webster.

I'll be pulling for Channing, he was a favorite of mine due to his personality.

I think he would have a much better chance if it was a "Fire on the Mountain" hot wings eating contest. :devilwink:

I'd have to think that Martell has gotten an invite. I'd be shocked (somewhat, Blazers don't get picked for these events) if he wasn't a part of the field.

martell is 55th in the league in 3 point shooting percentage. still shocked?
