The agent for David Lee indicated Tuesday that his client is still the subject of sign-and-trade discussions between the Knicks and at least one other team.

"Nothing is done yet, but we're talking," Mark Bartelstein said about contract talks. "There are still some sign-and-trade scenarios that are being discussed or going back to the Knicks."

If Lee eventually does return to the Knicks, it would be on a one-year contract exceeding Lee's $2.7 million qualifying offer.

I do not want the Blazers to have anything to do with David Lee.

Why? he'd be an awesome addition to the bench.

He's a banger/garbage man we need. Roy wanted Turiaf but we could get the rich man's Turiaf if we can pull off a sign-and-trade for Lee.

However, KP will not trade Rudy Fernandez. This could be what prevents a NY/POR deal from happening.

I'd love to get David Lee as long as we don't have to give up much.

I think Lee has made it pretty clear that he wants starters minutes and a starters salary. Even if the Blazers were willing to offer him the money, they can't promise him the minutes. If the guy could actually play either SF or C, it might be possible....but as long as he can only play PF, he would be getting 12-15 MPG. Can you say "locker-room problem"?

Lee at slightly more than $2.7 million? I smell a deadline trade/extension for a fraction of what Lee is asking right now.

Why sign and trade for him now when he'll be available for cheap at the deadline competing against a much better FA class in 2010?

I'm not a huge fan of acquiring Lee, but what about playing LMA at the 5 when Oden is sitting? Have a three man rotation of LMA, Oden and Lee? Most seem to think it's inevitable that Joel will leave at the end of the year, so perhaps send him to NY (if he doesn't work for D'Antoni they can let him walk at the end of the year for more cap space) along with someone else (if needed).

It leaves us pretty thin up front, especially considering Greg's track record thus far, but it's something to think about.

I'm all for adding him. At the same time, doing some thinning out of the roster. Jerryd, Travis, and the draft rights to Jeff Pendergraph to the Knicks for Lee.

If we were to get him. I think we are neck and neck with the lakers with the exception of experience. All it takes is one key injury to the lakers and I think were favorites.

There would have to be a 3rd team involved such as OKC to take on a contract, so not only do we have to give value to NY so they make the trade, value to Lee in a huge fat overpaid contract, but value has to be given to OKC for resolving the BYC issue by taking on millions in salary.

I like the idea of adding a talent such as Lee to our bench but I don't see it happening. I think the cost to complete a deal would be too high, which would cause it to not be in our best interest.

There are no draft rights for Pendergraph. He signed a contract.

I'd love David Lee if he were willing to take a 4 year, $25-28M deal. Since there is zero chance of that, I'd rather look elsewhere.

Can we please give this up? The only way we can get him is through a three way because of his BYC status. It's just too hard to work out and Lee isn't worth it.

Please stop interfering with our Fantasy Trade Land musings?!?!

Outlaw + Pryzbilla. Would you do it? It's about 10 Million. But the Knicks have a bunch of Trade Exceptions so they could send some back with Lee at 7-8 Million Per.

Although if you expect Pryzbilla to want to leave, you can't expect Lee to be happy in a backup role. I think he'll role the dice next year, but it's hard to walk away from guaranteed money like that.

Can we avoid BYC through trade exceptions? Sorry, I haven't kept up with the CBA and have bene drinking heavily on a Wednesday night / Thursday morning. Damn 65 hour work weeks!

Not in a million years. I may do Outlaw or Przy for Lee at the trade deadline, however, and see how Lee fits into the line-up before offering him in the summer.

I don't think they are the same player. I don't see Lee as a "banger". He is an elite garbage player. Racks up points and rebounds. Doesn't "bang". Doesn't give hard fouls. Doesn't play defense. Can't play Center. All things Ronnie does.

Except if he just accepts his qualifying offer this season, he isn't going to be traded during the season. Playing on the qualifying offer gives that player a no-trade clause in his contract, and if he is traded, his bird rights are waived. And there's no way he would waive his bird rights going into free agency next season.

David Lee was the Knicks primary Center and put up 16 ppg 12 rpg with a PER of 19. Our second unit is built to run-n-gun and David Lee would fit in perfectly at Center.

Ah, I see.

I would really like to think I was kidding, but I don't think I was...hmm. yeah....

When you have worked 10+ hours for the last 10 days straight everything just sort of rolls together.

I wouldn't mind having a big that can score in the post consistently.

Nope

I hear ya, my last day off was September 4th and my first day off will be the 19th!

OT this month will pay for my season tickets, so that is a bonus I guess.
