A 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital and treated for an accidental overdose of sleeping pills at the suburban home of former New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas, police said on Friday.

Police would not identify the victim, except to give his age. Thomas is 47. Harrison Police Chief David Hall said the case was not a suicide attempt.

That's a suspicious story if I ever saw one. The daughter was the one who took the pills, but Isiah had to be treated at the hospital?? Uh, huh.

Citing unnamed sources, the New York Post and The New York Times reported the victim was Thomas . . .

Hall would not confirm or deny the identity of the person. But on Friday night, Hall refuted Thomas' claims to the Post. "I understand that this person claims it was his daughter; he is lying," Hall told The Times. "It was definitely not his daughter, it was a male. We know the difference between a 47-year-old black male and a young black female."

Having lost someone close to our family to suicide, I am not surprised the Thomas family is in denial.

If this was say, John Salley, Mark Aguirre, or Joe Dumars, I'd have some compassion for the situation. But it is Isiah Thomas and this train wreck has been moving toward the station for a long time.

Why people didn't think there was anything wrong with the man when he played up that ankle injury years ago it beyond me. However, he just needs help it seems and doesn't strike me as a bad guy so I hope he gets help if he needs it.

I suppose if I was responsible for the Knicks as they are I might feel a bit off myself.
