Starting guards T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack had to be separated during a timeout in the middle of the third quarter of Friday's loss to Dallas.

The two starting arguing on the court and brought it to the huddle. Stephen Graham, Josh McRoberts and assistant coach Jay DeFruscio all went over to try and calm Jack down.

Jack was sent to the locker room by coach Jim O'Brien. Ford was also taken out, but he checked back in with 8:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.

It's unknown why the two were arguing, but I was told this had been "brewing" for some time between them.

T.J. kept walking to the bench Jack on the other hand became more angry at this point and threw his towel in Fords direction,...

JJ=Sheed

Jarrett is probably frustrated as hell after having been on one of the fastest rising teams in the league to a mediocre team that is struggling in the East. He is getting 5 more minutes than last season, averaging a career high in points and rebounds.

It's too bad. I feel sorry for the guy.

He may have been frustrating, but he was good, and has taken his game to the next level this year. Would have been a very nice complimentary player with our team, especially inspite of the recent backup PG struggles.

After reading the comments it seems like most fans seem to think TJ is selfish and Jack probably took issue with this.

I think that's more of a result of Granger. Jack wouldn't be getting many minutes here. Back-up PG at best, and I think Bayless deserves them more due to his higher ceiling. Also, if you're of the mentality that Bayless is garbage, I'd still rather have a 3 guard rotation of Roy/Rudy/Blake than have Jack playing back-up PG over Bayless.

Both those guys think they're a lot better than they actually are.

Glad we got Bayless, but Jarrett Jack would be a TREMENDOUS upgrade over any of the guards we have coming off the bench this year. And I loathed Jack last season.

That's one of the best stat lines of the year. Holy shit. 12-12 from inside the arc, perfect from the line, just 1 TO, playing with two rookies in the starting lineup, and a blowout win versus a team playing pretty well.

A lot of you guys are focusing on Jack, but I bet you TJ was the root cause of this incident. The dude's always shown a complete lack of awareness to his weaknesses and limitations. You should've seen the meltdown he had last year when he returned from that spine injury (from the Horford incident) and realized that Jose had outplayed him and won the starting job.

Didn't TJ say last year that he would refuse to come off the bench? Or something to that effect

Great game for Jack. He's playing great this year.

I was frustrated with his play last year and onboard with the draft day trade.

But watching Sergio and Bayless this year has been pathetic, backup PG is our biggest weakness. I have more appreciation for Jack's previous contributions as a Blazer.

I liked JJ too. But the bottom line is that they were looking to trade him because he had zero interest in getting
16 minues a game as Blakes back up. And he hated playing back up SG. He could have stayed, but his ego in this case hurt him and us. Nate loved the guy. But he wanted to start. Eventually I see him coming back to Portland after he comes off the bench for several other teams.

People seem to think being a point guard is a lot easier than it looks. Our down tempo style of offense puts a-lot of pressure on the PG because the defense has a chance to square up with them. Jarret was too inexperienced for all that pressure and would end up putting his head down and taking it to the rack. Yes are back up guards are inexperienced too but they both show promising ability to handle the ball and use their body to protect it, no matter how strong or not they are. Furthermore, its nice to see cool ex-blazers thrive in a more open system..

Right on, I agree. Our biggest weakness on this team is something that could have been a strength. Oh well, hopefully Bayless develops soon. HE has disappointed me this year outside of a span of 10ish games.
