INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—The Indiana Pacers have made qualifying offers to point guard Jarrett Jack(notes) and forward Josh McRoberts(notes), making them restricted free agents.
Jack’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, said Tuesday that his client has enjoyed playing for the Pacers. The Pacers announced the offers in a news release.
Jack averaged a career-high 13.1 points per game last season while sharing the starting job with T.J. Ford(notes). Team president Larry Bird said at the end of the season that he wanted to make the offer to Jack, but said as the draft approached the right point guard could make Jack expendable. The Pacers did draft Connecticut’s A.J. Price(notes) last week.
McRoberts averaged 2.4 points per game last season.
Free agents can begin negotiating with teams on Wednesday.
