sorry if the title is misleading.. I couldnt think of another way to word it lol... but I was reading about Tim Thomas not playing this year cause of his wife's illness... then I got to looking at BBReference (trying to find his stats vs us as he always seemed to kill us) and found this little gem at the bottom of his page.

October 4, 2005: Traded by the New York Knickerbockers with Jermaine Jackson, Mike Sweetney, a 2006 1st round draft pick (LaMarcus Aldridge), a 2007 1st round draft pick (Joakim Noah), a 2007 2nd round draft pick (Kyrylo Fesenko) and a 2009 2nd round draft pick (Jon Brockman) to the Chicago Bulls for Eddy Curry, Antonio Davis and a 2007 1st round draft pick (Wilson Chandler).

So the Knicks essentially traded LMA, Noah, Fesenko, Thomas, and Brockman for Eddy Curry and Wilson Chandler? Ouch

Re: OT: Knicks were bad

This might be the gayest thread ever created!

Next time, walk into a closet and talk to yourself about it!

I am not sure that is all correct, but regardless, the trade for Curry that Isiah Thomas made was WIDELY critisized at the time, it was so jaw-droppingly bad.

Curry became a bust quick huh?

How about the Bulls?

They effectively traded all those guys for Noah.

I thought Curry played pretty well his first couple years.

Eddy Curry was pretty good for his age early on. He just stalled out...even as late as 25, he was pretty solid (offensively...defensively, he was terrible). And then his performance collapsed and he seems to be done as an NBA player.

Yeah, for a couple years there, if he got the ball in the paint, he scored or was fouled. In that sense he was "good". But, even then I hated his game and his overall impact on the team. One positive (post scoring) and a whole host of negatives wasn't worth it.

In defending the acquisition of Curry, Isiah had to talk about what he thought Curry would become with his brilliant mentoring and guidance and talk up his "potential" as a player. It wasn't enough, even then to claim Curry was a decent pivot for the Knicks. As Curry was coming off his best couple of seasons, that was a bad trade for the Knicks.
