We don't want to waste this year. I think from a skill perspective, it's an opportunity for us to break down his shot, really work on his free throws and start a little bit from ground zero.
Tank. Either that or Nerlens is another Oden.So according to the article hes ahead of the initial schedule, which would have had him returning in like, January, at the latest, yet they're opting to not play him the ENTIRE season anyway? I don't get it. Even if you're overly cautious by a few months he should be able to play some in March/April.
Never understood the hype on that guy to begin with. He's a busted up Tyrus Thomas.
Disagree. I hated TT coming out of college, but I think pretty highly of Nerlens. First of all Tyrus is like 6'8. Nerlens is 6'10 bare foot. TT was a redshirt freshman, and thus a year older and one year of experience at least practicing against NCAA guys. Allegedly NN was 225 lbs before the injury, but who knows about that one. Perhaps most importantly I just like Noel's makeup. TT was soft and entitled and seemed to let the hype go to his head IMO. Even when people were riding the Tyrus Thomas hype train no one labeled him any kind of leader or high basketball IQ player.
Noel has incredible intensity. Hes got great defensive instincts and incredible lateral quickness for a guy that tall. His offense is crap. And hes an injury risk. But in the NBA today if you have a big like that who can guard the rim at an elite level, hes got the athleticism/intelligence/range to blow up the pick and roll, and you can switch him onto anyone in the NBA and feel alright about it, thats a very important piece. Alright, hes not a franchise guy, but I could definitely see him as a great defensive #2/#3 player on championship teams.
If Noel can be healthy next season and they win the #1; they just did a nice 1-2 swoop. I like Noel and it's smart for them to relax and take it easy on the biggest draft sweepstakes since LBJ, wade and Melo draft.
Disagree here. If they could bring him back with 20 games to go they will likely have the worst record sewn up and NN could learn the offense, which would be invaluable to his growth. He's not going to learn it by watching.
Sounds like Philly doesn't want to jeopardize their 25% chance at the number one overall pick.
