....in the history of the NBA Playoffs.

Did you guys see it? I DVRed it and just watched it. Oh my LORD. That's right up there with LeBron, Reggie Miller, and Sleepy Floyd. The guy was incredible. Scored in the paint at will. Dropped threes like they were layups. Got fouled on a three, made it anyway. From the very last minute of the third quarter to the end of the game, he scored 26 points. I'm floored. That was fantastic.

Bravo, Goran

It was amazing to watch--he'll never forget that game--good for him.

I know! I was blown away. I'm so glad I didn't miss it. You never know when something like that is going to happen in a game so I'm glad I was able to see it. The Spurs and their fans must be shocked.

Any PG behind Nash will look great in a system customized for Nash. Even I would look like a poor man's Gary Grant.

That's ridiculous. There HAVE been many point guards behind Nash but none of them did what Goran did. Goran just attacked and showed so many amazing moves in the paint and then just drilled shots. Had nothing to do with any system. It was just Goran going 1 on 5 and taking names. It's up there with Reggie and LeBron. Those are the only two players I've ever seen do that in the 4th quarter of a playoff game on the road, no less.

If he's so good, why didn't he get more than 17 minutes to rest a 35 year old PG? Alvin Gentry knows what he's doing. For one thing, he escaped the Clippers.

He was just hot. Big deal.

Well yeah. So was Reggie. So was LeBron. You don't drop 26 points in 13 minutes without being extremely hot. But it wasn't just threes. He's was crafty in the paint as well.

Honestly, it was one of the greatest 4th quarter performances in the history of the NBA Playoffs. Top 5 easily. And so unexpected. Out of nowhere.

I just noticed that all KingSpeed threads begin with either "No Joke" or "Sources:"

The only serious ones are the former. Man I hate these comedians.

But seriously. No joke is something I know to be true. Sources is well... from my sources. Could be true, who knows?

By the way, lost in all the madness is Frye's 9 pt, 5 reb, 2 blk, +15 performance tonight. Man, their bench is the real deal.

Hollinger chimes in:

Just consider the setting. The Suns were on the road, against a veteran Spurs team renowned for its defensive discipline, with their three best offensive players sitting on the bench watching, and facing a one-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter.

It didn't matter. Not only did they keep scoring, they scored more than ever. Over a span of 13 offensive possessions, the Suns scored the jaw-dropping total of 29 points with a display of dribbling, passing and shooting that's rarely been witnessed in NBA playoff annals ... despite having Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Jason Richardson the bench for the entirely of the run.

Why isn't coach Pop making adjustments? He should be fired! lol...

Big deal? Any PG could do this?

More:

According to Elias Sports Bureau, his 26 points in 17 minutes of action is the most points scored by a player who played fewer than 20 minutes in a postseason game in the shot-clock era.

LOL! Exactly. This Suns team is the real deal. I mean, at halftime, the Spurs were actually shooting better from the three point line than the Suns but the Spurs were so flustered by the Suns' 6 threes that he said "They're the best three point shooting team in the NBA! Maybe ever!"

It apparently also breaks Charles Barkley's record for most points scored in a quarter by a single player in a playoff game against the Spurs.

Two games for the history books today. Boston's worst playoff home loss ever. And then Dragic.

Like Mike?

"It was an out-of-body experience for Goran and me," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said. "I have seen that before, but it was done by the greatest player of all-time in Michael Jordan."

No surprise really. He played excellent against us.

Well, it was an absolutely incredible performance, but lets not forget that Martell Webster has a 24 point quarter to his name. I'm probably not as amazed because I generally don't add as much weight to performances in the playoffs or in the fourth quarter. I know it makes a difference but in my opinion the difference isn't as great as most people seem to think.

He played great against us but you can't tell me that last night you were thinking that Dragic might break records and drop 26 points in the last 13 minutes of the game in San Antonio to turn a 6 point deficit into a blowout win last night, can you?

Martell's quarter was the third and at home in a regular season game. And the game wasn't decided until Travis Outlaw had a big 4th quarter.

How can you not put more weight on a 4th quarter on the road in a series changing game? It's a totally different level of play. Game 3. The Spurs have been gameplanning for you all week (they're a great defensive team!!). They're 4 time champs and their season is on the line. Nash, Amare, and J-Rich are on the bench and the Spurs are winning. And then Dragic goes off and leads them to vidtory. I hope that someday Webster does that for us, but he hasn't so far. It would've been nice if he or Rudy or anyone did something like that for us in Game 5 in Phoenix. Or even Game 6. Webster had a good 4th but what if he finished what he started and got us the W?

As an NBA fan with no rooting interest in either team it was a lot of fun to watch. That must have been a helluva feeling for Pop, to know there really wasn't anything they could do to stop that kid for about 8 minutes.
