*** Eddie Matthews and Ernie Banks.....nice company....! Pujols was tied with Mel Ott at 511..

Next stop - Willie McCovey, Frank Thomas, and Ted Williams at 521. After these 3, Jimmie Foxx at 534...

Question IS: Pujols a HOF'er in your eyes, if he retired tomorrow...?

With No definitive proof he ever took steroids; or HGH, tho' some have rumored he may have....and, rumors are not enough proof to keep him off the HOF blacklist...! The Q IS NOT: whether he ever took PEDS, the Q, IS: He worthy of the HOF, if he retired manana....

If you believe NOT, please detail what Albert needs to further do in his career to be HOF worthy...! In your opinion...

I'm not real fond of players entering the HOF with only 14 yrs of MLB time. There are always worthy exceptions, ie, Sandy Koufax.

Pujols if he plays long enough is definitely capable of over 700 homers.

Yeah, I think he's HOF wiorthy. 600+ yes but I just don't see 700+

IMO Pujols belongs. Although, I feel Pujols needs to play a minimum of 4-5 more years, with decent above average numbers, which would decline as he ages. ]

The 1st two months, of this year, Albert looked like He was going to ensure Trout would come in 2nd in MVP balloting, on the Angels alone. Tho' Albert's B'Avg. & HR's tailed off considerably in June, then Trout passed Albert back up..

I'd love nothing more than to see Pujols have a couple years similar, or close to some of his Epic Years and Feats...Albert was a one man wrecking crew all by himself...

I'd say yes... I too think if he stays healthy he can easily do 600, probably 700+

I'd agree,

9 All Star Game Selections
3 MVP's (cheated out of 2 more by Balco Barry)
1 NLCS MVP
1 Batting Title
ROY
6 Silver Sluggers
2 Gold Gloves
Led NL in Runs 5 Times
HR's in a Season 2 times
Doubles 1 time
Hits 2 times
OBP Leader 1 time
OPS and Slugging Leader. 3 Times
Total Bases 4 times
2nd amongst Active Players in WAR- (for position players)
4th amongst Active Players in WAR for Offense
25th all time in WAR (for position players)
2,443 Hits (Frank Thomas had 2,468 Hits in 19 years of play)
Plus he's also won the Clemente, Aaron, and Gehrig Awards

I don't see him getting into the HOF on the 1st eligible year or ballot, (tho' I didn't expect Frank Thomas to get in on the 1st yr of eligibility either)...If Thomas belongs, IMO Pujols belongs. Although, I feel Pujols playing a minimum of 4-5 more years, with decent above average numbers, declining as he ages, could put him in the HOF on the 1st ballot.

Keep in mind Albert came 2nd in MVP balloting, to a Steroid Using Barry Balco Bonds...! Albert has 3 NL MVP trophies, and IMO should have 5...F. Thomas has 2 MVP Trophies...! *Reference similarity scores on link above...

PED Pujols?

Totus Tom- whadya' know about Albert and his rumored use of PEDs? I know he's not been caught, but then those suspended didn't fail testing either....

I do recall during the next to last WBC, rumors abounded Albert "May Have" used HGH...whaddya' know about this???

Otherwise-deferring to the previous thread-to reiterate to myself,

Believe it or not Bonds never failed a test either. But just look at him, if it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck................

How's that saying go? "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it is a duck".....?

Now why didn't I think of that?

Sorry Rob, I couldn't resist.

No problem any time Rick, I know being an old time friend, nothing you say is meant to be more than a humorous joking poke.....never any offense taken, nothing ever personal on this end either, hope ya' know that too.....

In all actuality even tho' I rib others on this great board, I never mean anything personal by it, all these peeps are my friends, with the exception of a few questionable's, who ARE NOT Regulars, and seem to appear only to stir shit....at our expense....!

I've never believe Pujols has taken... Neither him nor Griffey Jr. nor Jeter...

I'm still not so sure about Griffey. I mean yes he had one of the sweetest swings I've ever seen BUT.......I'm not quite sure why he gets not only a free pass but is also automatically above suspicion. He was right in the middle of Sosa, McGwire Bonds etc. And along with those guys put up some ridiculous #s. Only 4 players ever hit more HRs over a 5 year period (249) & 3 of those are PEDs members (Sosa, Bonds & McGwire) the other of course being Babe Ruth.

He's also only 1 of 5 players to have back to back 50 HR seasons (56 in 1997 & 56 in 1998) The others being Ruth, McGwire, Sosa & A-Rod (the last 3 being connected to PEDs). A very likable guy but again why does he automatically get a pass?

...unfortunately, we'll never know for sure who "inhaled" and who didn't...that's one of the many facets of the PEDs era.

...nothing surprises me anymore.

Sosa, Mac, & Bonds never broke down like Griffey did... that's why I believe he was clean... that and he had such a sweet swing... After the year 2000, he never had more than 35 HR, and only twice were 30 or more... Bonds had 4 years at or above 45 after 2000, Sosa also had 4 years at or above 35 HR after that year, Mac retired after the 2001 season...

Yes Bonds & Sosa escaped the body breaking down but, Mac broke down just as much as Griffey.

...is there anyone here that would bet their life that _____ didn't ever take some sort of PEDS, or that _____ did take them?

Not me. And especially not anyone that was right in the middle of things during that 10 year period 1995-2004.

I would not take a wager that: Griffey Jr. did not take PEDs....Not saying he did, just wouldn't put a dime on the line, that he never did at least once.

As much I feel the same (probably did some PEDS): with Frank Thomas, Bagwell, Klesko and many others, (tho Ryan isn't worth mention on HOF ballots)

I believe McGriff was clean, but then I thought of all players Wally the Good Mormon was clean. Didn't drink coffee, tea, caffeine, smoke, chew, but could do steroids. Just saw a good documentary on the prescription drug epidemic in Salt Lake City, every month the Cops destroy 30 tons of confiscated prescription narcotics in Salt Lake City, the hypocrisy is inherent in Con-Cult worlds....

But then again, I think Pujols was clean, tho' rumors are out here he may have taken HGH, after testing clean (prior to the WBC)...I do believe Albert has been clean.

Thomas being 6'6 & weighing 250 pounds I have to believe he was clean with only 521 HRs. For a man his size if he were dirty he would have hit over 700 HRs.

Yep, good point Rick....and he didn't get that big from using Roids, he was already a monster....corn fed like a (Tom Osborne) Nebraska Husker lineman...
