OT: Real Madrid going crazy

Not only have Real Madrid just signed Serge Ibaka (albeit only for a couple of months), they now want to offer Marc Gasol NBA money to be their "franchise player" (wonder how Rudy feels about that).

The team made an initial overture to Gasol regarding a deal that would have paid him to play basketball for them while the NBA lockout continues, but the Memphis Grizzlies’ restricted free agent turned that deal down. He told them he was only interested in playing overseas if the entire 2011-12 NBA season were lost. Real Madrid went back to the drawing board and approached team president Florentino Perez about making a much more lucrative, multi-year offer to Gasol that would make him their franchise player for years to come.
