Almost 50 years with type 1 diabetes, she had an amazing run with that disease plus alcoholism. I have friends at JDRF that will miss her strong advocacy. She was also a strong supporter of animal rights, she fought some good fights with her celebrity. Wish the snowflakes today would take a lesson.

I have a buddy that served on the JDRF board with her, so a lot of it comes from him. I found her interesting in that she understood the balance between medical research and animal rights, positions typically in opposition in Hollywood. Thought hammer would appreciate that given his day job.
